Will there be a refund?
yes, we are presently involved in the refund process. there are technical problems i don´t fully understand. conflicting versions of software since it was all put together almost a year ago and now newer versions of software are not compatible anymore. we have a 3 way multisig application but three different guys with different computer skills in different locations (from zero to expert; me counting as zero) with three different pc/mac setups in different upgrade versions. on top of that we never seem to find a time spot where we all can get together, since we all moved on with other projects, jobs - we are all busy like hell. we are working on it. if we fail i refund from personal stash.

dear people who wait for the refund:
we have spent another 3 hours of tryin unsuccessfully getting this going. it seems we made it very very very (very!) safe a year ago to protect the btc1k funds from theft. turns out that it is so safe, that we now have difficulties of getting it to work properly. currently we cannot access the coins. we will keep working on it.
i apologize for the ongoing delay.
we will keep trying.

No, i did not want to give the Impression that bitsofproof is responsible. Tamas helped us, for free. He is an outstanding guy. the orga Team alone is to blame.

Does it somehow improve your ego trying to hurt my reputation? I operated the ticket sale with BopShop and wrote a special wallet with 2 out of 3 sig for the organisators. That was about half a year before Gavin called the year 2014 the year of multisig. I planned to demo with the paper wallets, how Bitcoin is suitable to carry rights (tickets) not only value. It would have been a nice addition to the PR of the event showing how awsome Bitcoin is. It worked and I charged nothing for it. Wait, I would have had free entry to the event, that's it.

special thanks to tamas aka member grau for holding our hands, for helping us in so many ways, for responding always quick and for not losing patience. we owe him much.
the coins were at this address until now:

from now on the refund will be done from this address:
1CedKxiMRRNGb4CpGS7kz2LVqG3bPg867U

600watt has been active over in Speculation in the last 24 hours. I thought about pinging him on the topic. But I had the impression he cancelled the project after retracement and heavy personal losses?

yes, it was cancelled (running costs too high). Ticket funds were payed back. Some donated to dampen the losses.

U_U I was wondering how long it would be before someone woke this lying beast on the forums. To summarize this project was cancelled because it took to long although perhaps we will have that party someday!

It was cancelled for various reasons, the two biggest were the unexpected high costs and the complete unplannability of a date. For an event of this scale we need a fixed date months ahead. No serious location will be available on short notice (weeks).
So, the original concept ("when we cross 1k, 2 weeks later we party hard") is more or less impossible to do.

This may be the reason to cancel the party but... It is very easy to book a venue 2 weeks in advance. Sure you have to think outside the box but I know it can be done. There are massive stately homes, castles, museums and the like that would all be suitable and available... What you wont get is a mayfair esc nightclub or a convention center or fancy hotel etc.

Where was the venue location going to be? Also, how much interest/tickets sold, were there?

There were ideas for locations, but no final decision. It was impossible to reserve a location with the conditions this party had. The party was planned to be in Frankfurt, Germany. As for interest, it was pretty high. There's another thread about that, I think linked in the OP.

Ah yes. Cheers. Germany it was, and 220 reservations were made. A theoretical ~$220,000 buys a bloody big party! Noticed the original plan was to refund everyone if no more than 100 tickets/reservations were obtained, so the interest was definitely there. I wonder if logic says that more interest will exist now??

That's why I was always in favor of planning a BTC1Million Party. We'd simply buy the damn location way before

Yeah, well, I'm gonna go build my own blockchain. With blackjack and hookers! In fact forget the blockchain.
