Initially this will have a negative impact on Bitcoin prices and we may expect some drop in the prices. But I think in the long run this is good for Bitcoin. Facebook was being used by a lot of suspicious companies to promote their coins and ICO and cheat people. If these people are eliminated, the faith of people will only increase on Bitcoins.

For some reasons, why at FB??? Social media is of great help for advertising and FB is the biggest social media network. But maybe, this banning on facebook in a way, can also help to fight scams related to cryptocurrencies. A prevention of  companies who are taking advantage in advertising binary options,  ICO's and cryptocurrencies that are not currently operating in good faith.

Facebook will prevent all activities related to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

you misunderstood the news!
Facebook will no longer allow you to place any advertisements which involves ICOs and other cryptocurrencies.
you can still post things about bitcoin, etc on your profile or facebook page.

hopefully. then Google ads and all the rest of the major ones. we can finally get rid of all of them and with it all the FUD that comes with them.

There is a FOMO brewing...

Facebook has not banned bitcoin and some cryptocurrencies.
It is simply banning the advertising of ICO, because there are a lot of fraudulent ICO projects now, so if we continue to provide the service of advertising for these ICO, then facebook may face legal problems.

this is about the "suggested ads" not peoples personal comments/posts

and in another thread i explained why FB done this
the reason is because most bitcoin adverts and ICO adverts are scams

trying to get people to use 'investment' schemes where the people never get to own/trade real coins, but instead gamble the scammers database entry using a price that 'emulates' a real exchange price

and facebook just dont have time to vet all these scams or wish to become liable for causing people to become victims.
imagine all the lawsuits of "facebook told me to go to this site and hand a scammer my life savings"

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Has this news of FB banning advert on Crypto been confirmed? If it is true then at long run bitcoin will be the biggest beneficiary of this ban. I said this because all  the fake and scamming project that comes in-guise of ico  will have been weeded out. Since they can not bring them to Bitcointalk forum then only genuine project will be projected. But bounty hunters will miss FB arm of the bounty.

This is true. I Dont think is a problem for us though. Most advertising ICO are scams and a danger to the community. However i do see the disadvantages. It is possible that some of them arent scams. Maybe one or two of them are doing legitimate technological innovations. It's just so hard to tell them apart now a days. But those people will just have to find other places to market themselves.

This is no even FUD. This is a bag of lies drenched in s....

This is Facebook statment
https://www.facebook.com/business/news/new-ads-policy-improving-integrity-and-security-of-financial-product-and-services-ads

Nothing about "preventing all activities related to bitcoin".
Bitcoin and cryptos are not even mentioned.

People like you should really get banned for crap like this.

hopefully. then Google ads and all the rest of the major ones. we can finally get rid of all of them and with it all the FUD that comes with them.

I really want to get rid of those two annoying ads in gmail, they are always about ICO.
I use ublock but I just can't get rid of them without making a mess of my inbox.

This should help cleanse the ecosystem of pointless ICOs like Prodeum, a project which involved labelling fruits and vegetables.

Please tell me this is not real. Please!!!!

2018 should be renamed the year of Heavily Regulated Crypto Ecosystem. Facebook's regulation on ad placements is just a tip of the iceberg, I expect other media platforms to follow suit by mid-2018. This should help cleanse the ecosystem of pointless ICOs like Prodeum, a project which involved labelling fruits and vegetables.

I find that there are too many scam advertisements about crypto in Facebook too. I will see at least 5 a day. Maybe it is better for Facebook to ban such advertisements to reduce negative impact to Bitcoin in the long run.

Yeah, they just want to make bitcoin seem something negative. I don't think it will last. They can not stop bitcoin. When everyone will have bitcoin they will be forced to accept it

If facebook decides to ban cryptocurrency ads it at welcome development to me in as much the ban did not affect bounty hunters.
These ads sometimes could be very annoying, when they  pumping up from your facebook page.
Scammers usually use ads to promote their scam project and people believe on this project because they believe that facebook will not get itself involve with scam projects.

Google and twitter, instagram and YouTube is next

In the short term, that does have a bad effect on Bitcoin prices, but in the long run this is not a big deal, and bitcoin has not been optimistic from the very beginning, coming along, now, experiencing Many times plunged, I believe the back will rise back

Facebook is probably doing this because the CEO wanted to build his own Digital Currency. He is all for regulation.

I would definitely take this as a positive news since Facebook was being used by many scam and fraud ICOs to promote their coins. I myself saw some great advertisements from shit ICOs who were promoting their coins on the Facebook platform. By banning these advertisements Facebook has done a really good job since it will stop many investors from being scammed. Some might take it as a negative news and might send rumors regarding it but it is definitely not a bad news but a good one.

You are wrong facebook didnt said that they will prevent all cryptocurrency related activities in their platform. they just want to ban those cryptocurrency advertisements because most of them are scams that can reflect to the reputation of their social media platform. who is next? i dont know, but hopefully youtube also ban this scam ico advertisements. they are just plague in this cryptocurrency world. and only allow legit ones.
