The merit should be proportional to the number of user activity, for example I have activity to be a full member (126) but I was awarded 10 merits , and a user with 60 activity earned the same number of merits (10) as me. IMO users like you, who whine without actually reading what's already written and discussed here a thousand times, should never be allowed to take part in any signature campaign. I mean seriously! Read the hundred other posts about the issue and enlighten yourself. Also, this forum is run by Theymos and his associates. Do not like how this place is run? Feel free to leave.

Just work your way up. Merit shouldn't be looked like as importantly as you are trying to make it. If you post good content, you'll be rewarded by merits from other users. Don't talk about fair/not fair. This is a great way to combat spam and doesn't need any 'reviews'

You are member and that is your advantage over me, but still you have that courage to speak a word which seems you do not understand what you are saying, maybe you did not read the thread about merit and so you make a post without reading and understand the new system about it.
I believe this is the major problem of many here, making a post or reply with out fully understand of what they are trying to say.

Dude fairness doesn’t mean equal to your effort. It is the prerogative of the giver. Giver think that it is fair to give merits according to your rank so be it. Giver have all the rights whom he have given much and whom he have given less.

Because, even the fact that you get to earn from this place; is a matter of privilege, not a right. Get over it. No one owes you any explanation about why everyone cannot earn from here as easily as before. However, the people who were behind the decision have made their stance clear about it. And the reasons have been discussed for numerous times already.

All registered users in the forum are required to follow a set of established rules, which are our duties as members, if I comply with all the rules and duties, I gain the right to use the forum, not a privilege. Users as moderators, donors, and developers can be classified in the privilege category because they can do things that normal members can not do. Every system when introduce it is beneficial for some and difficult for the others. All those users who were near the rank promotion are the ones most badly effected by it. BUT IF YOU CARE FOR THE FORUM ACCEPT IT ELSE LEAVE THE FORUM.

See the admin has already made a decision and members have moved on with it. Some new members already reached the member rank by earning the merit points. I am also getting merit points for some of the posts I made and I think it really works. Better focus on what is in your hands now instead of complaining. All the best.

You confuse right with privilege, the forum is private (although you do not need to be logged in to view your messages, your posts are publicly accessible by google), such as a club, an association, or a company. In a company there are a set of rules, norms and regiments that are the basis of its laws (sets of duties and rights). As I said before, all registered users in the forum are required to follow a set of established rules, which are our duties as members, if I comply with all the rules and duties, I gain the right to use the forum, not a privilege, like in a club, company, church,association...etc. Any public person can sign up, there are no restrictions, there is no selection process, you just have to follow the rules, and following the rules you have the right to use the forum. This is my opinion and you have the right not to agree with it, or would it be the privilege of not agreeing? lol

I made an opinion post yes, I just wrote my point of view (a simple right of expression, which confuses you with privilege), I did not ask anything in any of my answers, I did not offend anyone and I did not ask you to say if I should leave the forum (this is my personal decision). I'm one of those who supposed to ranked up but I'm not fully affected since I came here to learn more so I accept the challenge to get merit while I'm giving my thoughts. Yes its hard, because quality post is not enough you must be creative and some people don't care even you post a good one. As the system gets old, people will adopt the system and no more questions to be made.

Both are you is member rank that is why you received same merit, if you want to rank up your account you should do your best to post more quality/constructive and more attractive post to able to get your account generate a merit to other user. I know what is your feeling because already ranked up if there is no merit required but this is not unfair mate if you quickly get a more merit your account will rank up quickly also.

If you are here as a senior member to legend member and you think this system is fair, ask your self would you have gained your current status if the merit system was introduce before you could upgrade your membership status? And I wonder why you are suggesting someone shouldn't allow to participate in signature campaign just because he is expressing his opinion about unjust system. The best merit is to stop allowing new users to register on this forum, because any newbiew cant contribute to the satisfaction of higher members. Attaining a higher member doesn't mean you are pro, I have seen snr to legend members just contributing one line to a post and writing garbage with spams, but they are untouchable.

Who determines how quality a post is? So now it means people opinion should be a yardstick to membership upgrade. thymos should not that this system will bring bitcointalk reputation down. If I disagree with somebody on issue and though my post is constructive and on point, it wont receive a merit but yet I might be qualified to upgrade to next rank .

I completely agree that this is a private space and the owner has the right to do what he likes with it.
So, there is no sense to call this innovation "unfair": if you don't like it, leave the forum.
But, talking in the forum interest, it seems to me that to introduce a system that privileges so much old members on the new it's not a positive thing.
Of course now Legendaries are very happy, and say to us "What's the problem? Write good posts and you will rank up", when in fact if you check their past post you will find a lot of pure shitpost.
And it's useless to make good post if no one has merit to give.
So, the result will be perhaps a forum with less spam (I'm not so sure about this point), but also a "depressed forum", not more a dynamic one.

And, if the forum becomes depressed, there will be less interest from ICO and paying advertisers.
We'll see in the future, I'm pretty sure that in short time there will be some adjustment of the system.

No, you do not. You may use the forum as long as the people running this place allow you to do so. There is no regular banning here unlike other forums otherwise you'd be kicked out of the forum just because you mentioned a couple of blacklisted words on your post (go join Thebitcoinpub lol)

People that mined btc in 2010 are obviously at an advantage. You don't expect them to give you a share of their "shit mines" do you? Similarly, people that have already been here for years get preferential treatment in this regard vs the new ones that just join to farm coins.
