Unfortunately hardware prices are rediculously high right now. However, if the market keeps going down like it is currently you may see a huge supply increase in aftermarket graphics cards since people are getting demoralized. Personally, I would be patient and see if that happens (starting to happen with 1080 tis on eBay, a cursory glance shows avg resale value has dropped from around $1300 a week ago to $1100 as the market cools).

Every people have their own considerations, the best for them isn't mean the best for you. You can ask here and get a few input, use it as one of your considerations, but still, you need to do your own research. What you ask here, isn't easier to answer. The decisions are yours.

Still good time to mine ?
It is almost allways good time to mine.
The unique moment when it is not, it is when the cost of the coin you mine is less than the price of your electricity. Then, you will prefer to buy the coin and not mining it.

What will happen if there are no more GPU in the market?
This will be a very good opportunity for the miners : the difficulty stop to grows and it's make more time to redeem the GPUs

I think to exclude approx. 5% of your profit for possible maintainance costs isn't also a bad idea. There's wear and tear at GPU fans and PSU's are also prone to fail at some point in the future.  Undecided

lol. all these noobs. looking at their fiat value. gotta look at them btc gains! its free profit, granted i have my own farm. but i agree w/ the post above, the prices are outlandish. you can still be getting 1080tis on amazon under 800$ but you have to have quick hands. ive picked up 13 1080tis and 3 1070 ($480) on amazon this month alone.
thank you are lucky.
this price is on alibaba and aliexpress. but I am afraid of them Cheesy

If 2018 is like any of the past 5 years then.. there will be a GPU shortage followed by a crash and people will proclaim mining is dead. Then it will recover and people will make insane profits. Then a GPU shortage will strike and crypto will take a huge dip and people will proclaim mining is dead. Then it will recover and people will make insane profits. Then a GPU shortage will hit and crypto will take a huge dip. Then it will recover and people will make insane profits. Then we'll say happy new year, create threads called "what will happen to GPU mining in 2019" and we'll do this same song and dance all over again  Kiss

It will be harder, many new guys are coming to crypto. It's still a profitable thing to do.
There always be GPU's on the market. You just need to fight for it.
Do your research and don't rush. Buy a good equipment and learn how to use it.

I bought 36x 580 8gb for 700,00 each...

I think I’m going to have 1 year to 1-1.5 ROI.

But I thinks is going to be a good investment.

Let’s hope it is!!

Doesn't mining get less profitable when prices go down? So with the recent dip in prices for most coins plus the increasing difficulty, does it mean that buying and holding is a much safer option?

it annoys me so many people who has absolutely no idea about mining start investing just because they heard others are doing.
this reminds me of both gold and oil rush in 1800's. The miners sucked hard back that time when the prices crashed.
Every single day we see new people with 0 knowledge create new threads asking what 2018 will be goor or bad.
Pure sheeple instinct.
Keep pumping money into this sheeple

Mining has always been a wonderful rollercoaster because of how BTC / alt-coin prices seem to increase against all odds of known fear. Try to figure out a way to hold onto value for even more ROI. Making a profit comes when prices go up and holding enough from a large run before selling.

Quite a few smaller coins don't require GPU, but rather CPU or other storage mechanics to mine tremendous amounts in comparison.
