Hello there,

This is my very first post in this forum...

So i had a pc with x2 Gtx 1070 running in SLI, i discovered mining not so long ago and liked the outcome and started watching tons if videos of mining rigs etc, so i decided to simply upgrade my mining "rig" with another Gpu, a GTX 1080.

Specs:

Motherboard: Asus prime Z270A
cpu: i5-7500 cpu 3.4ghz
Gpus: x2 Gtx 1070 and x1 Gtx 1080
Ram: 16gb ddr4
PSU: 750 watt (RM-750X by Corsair)

So, ive upgraded bios. followed steps from youtube on how to set ur settings in bios simply for Mining, ive bought Riser cables. 5 of them and today i tried adding the GTX 1080 to my mining rig, i also ordered another gtx 1070 so i would like to get this thing sorted out rather quickly..

The problem is: When all the 3 gpus are connected it always only detects 1 Gtx 1070 & 1 Gtx 1080, ive tried running each card 1 by one, they always get detected, ive tried changing risers and changing PCI-e express slots but it never works when having all 3 of them are connected

I have no idea what the problem could be, could it be that my PSU has to low voltage or something to run and detect all 3 of the gpus? Because like i said, even if its the x2 1070 connected or the 1080 with each of the 1070 it gets detected when i boot up.

So Problem: Computer will not detect more then 2 Gpus

What ive tried: Connect each of the gpus to different riser cables and different pci-express slots, all the cards work.
Iv'e tried connection x1 1070 and x1 1080 and it boots up and get dected
Iv'e tried connection x2 1070s and it boots up and gets detected.
Iv'e tried installing drivers for each one by only booting up with  1 gpu at the same time.

Iv'e seen videos of people having more then 7 gpus on the same motherboard with Riser cables, so i cant come to understand why it wont work with only 3 for me?'

Please guys, any tips are appriciated, the only conclusion i come to myself is that theres either something wrong with my PSU or simply that the PSU cant provide enough to run the 3 cards at the same time, please tell me its that simple so that i can go and buy a new psu!

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

well PSU is the issue here you need to get at least 1000 or 1200 for those cards and other thing did you test all risers that you got with one gpu to see if any of them are faulty ?

Hello

Thank you for your reply, yes i tested all cards in each Riser and it works with all of them.. It's simply when i connect all 3 at the same time that it only show me 2 cards....

I was wonmdering something els, when u only have 3 cards like me, do you need to have 1 card at the MOBA? Because ive only tested all 3 in risers.

About the Psu, so you mean that the problem can be that the Psu will make the 1 gpu undetectable due the lack of power? I mean beacuse they all boot up and i get no Error sound.

but i mean, even if the GPU is to low, all the cards still power up when i start it. Shoudlnt to low power be like red beeping or melting cards or something like that?

Having a to low psu to show all 3 gpus u have connected feels a bit wier.. And of coruse all the psus in my country are sold out for the next weeks.

well if any1 cares, it came out that one of the GTX 1070 had broken, very very strange, it worked fine just until i bought the new gtx 1080 and plugged it in, even after that. But somewhere along that way it  broke.

It starts up with the fans and all but its not showing, even tried at a local data storeage today, its faulty..

Well so i bought a new PSU a 1000 watt and also another gtx 1070.. And im sending the faulty one back, just sad cuz its gonna take months for it to come back prolly since they are all out of stock.

Anyways now running

Gtx 1070
Gtx 1070
Gtx 1080

Think i can add another gtx 1070 to my new 1000 watt supplier? Should be up to 4 cards when mining right? I have everything set to Gen 2, so that it uses old "technique"

Best regards

I have 2 GTX 1080s, 2 1070s, and a 1050ti on a Prime Z270p and an 860 watt power supply running full bore, you shouldn't have any issues with the 1000w psu Smiley  By the way, why were you using risers?  3 cards should fit in the mobo natively.  Also, I think that PCI Gen 2 setting is bullshit.  Like I said, I have 5 cards.  I am running Gen 3, no problems.  I think sometimes this "advice" originates with one youtube video that everyone has watched and then they repeat what they watch as if the guy is an expert.

1070 has TDP 150w x 3 =450W, 1080 has 180 W totally 630 W. remaining power 370 W. The power consumption for Processor, RAM, and Riser has not been calculated. I think the rest is too risky that will lack power. indeed when undervolted done sufficient if using 1000W. But its safer to wear 1200W or more. When the other part lacks power consumption. one of its causes RIG restart itself, Crash, hashrate of GPU slightly reduced.
