Tell me if this would work. A mining pool that saves all the generated coins and it goes into a jackpot for one of the participants to win.

There could be other revenue generated that is added to this pot as well such as advertising and sponsorship. Such as a mailing list that mining/computer software and hardware sellers could post too and you could subscribe to via an opt in.

Is this no different to solo mining ?

Mining bitcoin is already akin to gambling with your power bill, though with much better odds of return than your pool. What incentive is there to gamble all of it on a longshot? I would rather get my SMPPS and play blackjack to get my fix...

And yes, the odds of winning your jackpot are the same as solo mining. You gotta sweeten the pot for the end-user, or it will never get big.

just pool ffs... its one of the most fair ways, except i don't care for pool operators who can sit on their lazy ass and make money for doing nothing. we need a decentralized way to operate pools.
