I'm a noob, so humor me as I wrap my head around what might happen when the KnCMiner pool switches on. Only Jupiter machines will be involved. Each ASIC box capable of .4+ TH/sec. So figure 600 boxes (my guess is 10% of units sold) all hosted by KnC = 240+ TH/sec round the clock, right?
Metaphorically speaking, that's like 600 Bucyrus RH400 hydraulic shovels vs a few hundred guys with teaspoons.
Thoughts? Are my numbers way off? Corrections appreciated.
If I'm understanding your math correctly, 10% of KnC Jupiters will be hosted? Then 90% would be mining on other pools, right?
But then you're also not taking into account the 200THs Bitfury private pool, ASICMiner's continued growth (perhaps) and all of the other massive proposed projects and not to mention ASIC sales to individuals.
I don't doubt that there will be some pool shake-ups coming soon but I definitely don't think most of the bigger pools (BTCGuild, 50BTC, etc) will suffer greatly. I personally would like to see the small and mid-range pools get their share too but I'm not overly optimistic.
