What's the tracing going to achieve? In the end you're just going to know what wallet address your bitcoin ends up, but not necessarily who the owner of the wallet is. And I really don't think knowing where your bitcoin ended up can help you get them back.

... apply same money safety common sense, when using bitcoin.

if you dont know enough about someone to slap them with a wet fish(court order).. dont give them your funds
