Yep altcoins do look like a potential option. I have a good GPU in my computer at the moment gaming wise but only produces around 120MH/s. I wouldn't beable to run this 24/7 either, so it would just be a 1am - 6pm sort of thing. Better than nothing though.

With the bitcoin miner I could potentially leave it on as long as possible providing all goes well.

i think they were always pointless. they are just a novelty toy to "pretend" to be a big boy miner.

By 'they', do you mean the USBs or GPU's. Trying to work out if you're replying to my previous post, or just to the thread in general.

This will help the network. Even if it is not that profitable better not unplug the miners because recently someone with 51% hashing power went up last week. And it could pose a security threat and would render the coin waste.

The amount is too little, looks like a test model so the being is currently useless, but not pointless for later development as one day, 100Gh/s Raw power can be put in one simple usb flash.

...
But Im just curious, is the following true? Looking at the figures on the link below, you would never make any money from the USB Erupters, even if there were no pool fees, and electricity was free.
...

Yes, they are pointless.
Yes you can travel across the country with horse and buggy, but when was the last time anyone actually did that??
