This is a "serious topic", meaning your answers could influence my students and the course of the future of the World!

Will Tether drown us all?
Before real value /  greed gets to have some more fun?
$50K or $2,900 (Huh) which comes first/next for Bitcoin?
Optional / Extra credit / Why?

Tether has a 2.2 billion market cap. Bitcoin has a 155 billion market cap. I'll let you do the math...

50k first. Then the big crash, below 10k if this year, but perhaps only low teens if in 2019.

You miss the third option. What if the bitcoin price never reaches 50K USD and never crashes back to 2900 USD?I choose my "third option".The bitcoin price will move between 5K and 25K USD during the next few years. Why?Because the governments and central bankers will never let btc to grow to a 50K price level.
On the other hand, bitcoin might never fall under 5K USD,because of the strong support and the big army of HODLers.
Tether has nothing to do with this.

Recent days the price has started to recover little by little. Now people have started to speculate the price to reach above $25000 at the earliest. In particular, experts too have come up with good predictions about the market to recover and reach ₹50k.

I doubt that bitcoin will go as high as $2.9k during this crash. But I also doubt that the price will go up to $50k so fast.

But if I were really to make a choice between the two, I'd choose $50k will probably come first. But we'll probably correct down to around $4-5k as a minimum before $50k gets hit. Why? Because it's bitcoin's price cycle history.

Every single time we get pumped, the price will crash eventually to around 4-5x pre-pump levels. Then after around 1-3 years of inactivity, bitcoin comes back and makes a even bigger jump in terms of price, breaking. It could happen this time as well.

I'm not saying that either will be hit, though. It's just a prediction.

The gap is so big, the possibility of bitcoin to reach @50000$ within the span of 2 years from now is a little bit off. But Tether(usdt) has a support and potential to touch @2900$ mark within that same period. Maybe it’s so huge of distance between two prices in determining one’s coin advantage to the others but will see as cryptocurrency is a world of unpredictability.

Who knows? There can be the possibility of not having both. Firstly, Tether is not even a problem and even if there is an impact on the market, it should not be that terrible enough to drown us before being resuscitated. I won't want to jump too fast on the $50k though, but I also do not see the possibility at least at this stage that we are.

i am worried about your "students" who are influenced by comments on a forum!

tether will bite us in the ass at some point, but so far the effects of it has been exaggerated a lot bigger than it really can be.

all i can say is $2900 is so random and that if it happens the recovery won't be easy or fast at all. it will be years of downtime and the amount of money that is going to exit the crypto market is going to be gigantic. not to mention all the altcoins that are currently flirting with $1000 will go back down to $1 to $10

There is a FOMO brewing...
