Merit "trading" - buying and selling Bitcointalk merit

I feel like that the forum did merits to get quality post. And the main reason is to limit the amount of people on that rank. Without those merits people can easily become a Hero member in a few months. But because of merits they have to make quality post rather than making average post and getting the same out come. So I feel like trading merits is not ideal maybe even illegal. Because what's the point of selling merits if you will not earn it again?

It all goes on making even more money with those smerits that they do have and the fact that theres a demand to it since there are people who
do really like to fasten up their rank up rather than on focusing on making constructive post.They do love the fast way thats why they throw
up some bucks for it to be achieved and we know that higher rank would have higher pay in terms of sig campaigns which they do think
that they can break even it soon once they do able to join one so they do took the risk on buying.It isnt allowed since its a form of abuse
but stopping it is not really that simple.

You can merit any post which you can like, even if it is a single word reply but if you are doing this for getting something in return which makes you as untrustworthy person but you won't get banned only will get negative trust ratings from DT members.

DT member has their own judgment...
if your post or the post of the person you want to give merit is high quality then doing a merit reply is not a bad thing. the bad thing is when you give more than 1 merit to posts that use short words like hi and how are you!

We had seen 50 merits for a single word reply or one liner reply in the past if it is from a reputed forum member but if the same thing happens with two random members then it may be look shady so its completely subjective.

Yes, and recently it has started working. People want high-rank to join quality campaigns. Since the merit system was put in place, the high-rank member think they are still safe with their current rank and there is no attempt to improve the quality of the posts. When low-rank members start to work hard and meet the criteria of being a good poster, high ranking starts to lose the opportunity to join the campaign.

Although there may still be merit tradings out there, I think their efforts will be in vain if they are not really a good poster. In fact, high-quality managers have fair qualifications to employ campaign participants and shitposter will never have the opportunity.

Youre right even a single word can have 10 merits or more specially post made by bounty managers  but those high quality posters cant even get a single merit.

I see a lot of you complaining that low-quality posts get dozens of merits and good posts often don't get any ...
It's true, but if you could compare 1000 bad posts with 1000 bad ones, I am more than sure that the better ones on average are definitely better rewarded.
We have a lot of merit source here who are committed to reading hundreds of posts a day rewarding valuable ones, and the fact that a few users reward something funny, malicious or stupid with high number of merits does not affect the overall merit distribution system.
Remember that the whole system, in addition to the merit source, also consists of thousands of normal users who can freely use their merits.

Admin and moderators should look at those members who gives high amount of merits even the post is not good but rather give those merits to members who deserve the most.

Everyone here talks about how you shouldn't give merits for poor posts, so instead of begging for them, try to write something meaningful ....
Also, be careful because may be tagged by some people for such behavior

Yes, merit system were made to see who deserves this kind of system, but some members abuse it, giving merit to short posts, like "bump",  me too, and etc. Its unfair to some good posters who are not getting any merit.

At one point I was hounded by these buyers, reported few of them who eventually were banned. There might be others who might have faced the same consequences.

Never ever beg or buy Merits as in the end you will lose your account as well as your money.

I wouldn't recommend you to do so, merit is proof that you have high quality posts and if you buy them then you are faking your post quality, that absolutely means you are cheating.

Thats not a good idea, it would be better if you work for it. It will be an achievement for you and some members will also did what you did in order to get merit without buying it.
