The price is stable now. But it is still not very profitable.

Hey Guys, looks like mining profitability is going down fast.  Anyone else think so too?

The ethash difficulty has gone up crazy in January.  At this rate, it will be very unprofitable towards mid-year.

Also, once ETH switches to POS, it looks like all that hash power will be spread out to all the other alt coins, and it should essentially make mining unprofitable or very small profits.

Thoughts?
All GPU algorithms are going down in profitability, especially after Christmas, it has gone downhill unfortunately. I can't mine on Ethash due to my GPUs being under 3Gb of ram so I can't judge about that, but Equihash is barely profitable for me. If this situation continues, it will definitely be unprofitable within the next few months.

Yes, you are right, it is not the best time to enter the market now, a lot of rigs are very close to the wallets level, while prices for cards still is pretty high.
If i were you, I'd wait

The price is stable now. But it is still not very profitable.

That is a curious response considering the price is another $300 lower than when he originally posted that. Plus, it looks like the price is going down further, @ $485 as I type this so I do not think it is that stable either.

Yes, profitability in mining is currently down and will probably head even lower in the short term. If you already have gear you are still making a little money, but forget about investing in new equipment as the payback period is now going to be measured in years, and not weeks or months anymore.

Now a lot of people are leaving ETH mining. The complexity has slightly decreased but due to the fall in the price of coins profit continues to decline. It seems to me that miners from Europe will now begin to disconnect their equipment. They already have zero income. Now mining will completely move to China and it is bad. But in all coins the mechanism of self-regulation is put. He will not allow the coin to die.

Since most of the people leaving the mining ethereum we may find the difficulty reduced for ETH right. Use all the cards for mining ethereum. If you wait and watch for 6 months from now with all the mined coins you may find the big profit with that bro.
Please do not worry when the marketplace value of any coin dumped down. If you find the dump, as you said many people will leave from mining that coins. So you guys can utilize the situation.
