Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I wouldn't bother with faucets now. I checked about 30 of them out and only one paid out. Also, most will pay out about 6p / 10c max. Even if BTC value goes up 10 fold that is still only 60p / $1.
