I was reading a lot of replies on threads, most of the answers were standard. Now, how can you classified or distinguish or what are the basis to categorize an answer, before you could say it's a junk one, yeah sometimes their answer is stupid but they have a point, someone replies with all their might with the ideas they have but gat deleted (some important line is there, but it was deleted because some inappropriate line is mixed up), or a shit one??
Can anybody share their thoughts, ideas and knowledge about it?
Please don't be brief on your answers, please explain it on details on words that can be easily understand because if you used complicated phrases it might be get misinterprete.
I'll be reading them one by one.
Thank you.

This is a great example of a junk answer. Although it appears quite long, you could've expressed the same thoughts much more concisely. Unfortunately, excessive verbosity such as this seems to be the trend since advertisers started requiring a minimum number of characters for posts to be paid.

To which of us are you addressing that comment. Neither of us is in a bounty programme.

Isn't OP a newbie and not allowed a signature ? Yes, that is correct. However, I believe his question was in response to seeing that other users were receiving negative trust from members such as The Pharmacist and actmyname for "shit-posting", and the purpose of making this thread was to understand what that means so he can avoid it. My point is that a lot of junk posts are "junk" because they are intentionally lengthened with filler sentences to meet minimum character requirements. There is nothing inherently wrong or "junk" about a one line response as long as it is constructive to the discussion, you just won't be paid for doing so.

This merit system has made the spam posting worse in some ways. People are copy pasting long responses, and then making rambling posts saying the same thing over and over in hopes to get more merit.

Sorry buddy but I believe I was asking about shit post and how you categorized them as one, I was not asking about how does merit work since it was discussed also by everyone else out of the meta discussion page. (but I believe your reply is purposely intended to answer on how to lessen or remove this kind of posts *referring to the title* by stating the fact that merit existed to do such so. But on the point that bounty hunters make their answers long is that the campaign itself said that you need to have atleast one hundred character long, lesser than that will not be counted, so don't blame them if they add more words beside on their main answer.

Just report those posts. Copying posts is strictly dealt by banning those accounts.

In your first sentence which I have bolded you say "most of the answers were standard". Well, if something is standard then it's not good and it's those sort of posts that shouldn't and wont receive merit. The biggest issue of this forum is that it's plagued with people just putting the minimum amount of effort in and what I call 'hit and run' posters. They rush out a sentence or two in a generic spam megathread of something that has probably been said dozens of times without actually offering anything original. You can quote them asking them something or expanding on a point or error they made but you'll never get a reply because that's too much effort and they've moved on to the next thread to repeat the process and never return. The merit system is meant to curb that sort of behaviour whereas those posts will get them nowhere and only posts that actually contribute something will get noticed.

The purpose of the OP was more than likely to simply increase post count by creating a thread he can post enough remarks in. I've seen a number of newbies doing that. Just making random "troll" posts to get to a point of post count they are able to make faster posts. Many of them end up being "vouch puppets" for scammers (no reflection on this thread starter but that seems to be a trend).

Thank you for the support!!! Creating also a thread to ask about something (either related to Bitcoin or about the forum) is like gathering also information for future reference/s or guide for you and the others, just please don't be harsh on me. I just don't want to be ban or kick out out of nowhere, and, I only want things to be on detailed manner.

Before I start listing my criteria, I will note that if I'm ever in question whether to delete something or not, I don't. If its not so obvious that I can't decide, I air on the side of leaving people's posts alone. When deciding if I delete a post or not, the first thing I do is check if the post is on topic. The best post in the world about the socioeconomic effects of Bitcoin on developing countries will still be deleted in a thread where someone has asked about making paper wallets. I personally typically allow one string of consciousness away from the original topic. If the main topic is the creation of paper wallets, useful posts about things one level of abstraction away are fine, for example software/printers/security involved in making paper wallets. If we go from making paper wallets to your trip to the zoo, we've gone too far, and the zoo comment will be deleted. I then check if that post is just completely plagiarizing what has been said earlier in the thread. If you expand on what other have said, thats fine, but copying others isn't. If someone has already answered a question or given their input, if you add nothing new to the conversation, its spam. As far as posts containing offensive language, insults, etc. If they are still on topic, and don't carry a huge risk of drawing the rest of the replies to the thread off topic, they are left alone. Back to the paper wallet example, if someone says, "fuck that, don't use that paper wallet software, the developer is an asshat, this other one is better" its not a problem. If the main subject matter of your post is the insult, it'll probably be removed. The last thing I'll mention is a normally foolproof test of whether something is spam. Ask yourself, can this post be responded to? If you are making a statement, and there is no way for someone to respond to what you have just said with additional information about the original posts' subject, then it is spam. Using my earlier example, "fuck that, don't use that paper wallet software, the developer is an asshat, this other one is better", people are then able to reply about the other suggested software, what issues exist with the one you are saying not to use, people can disagree/agree with you and add additional information that may help others decide, etc.
