I keep getting messages saying Error 504: Gateway Timed Out whenever I try to load most pages, and when pages do load, it is extremely slow. All other websites are loading normally for me. Is this an issue on my end only, or are other people experiencing this?

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

It's not just you.

Maybe another DDoS attack? This has been happening since early today and I can't browse the forum for more than 2 minutes before getting the same error.

I am experiencing the same, it seems to be server side issue.
I've been trying to post in another thread for about 30 minutes, wonder which one will be posted first
I suspect ddos is in progress, launched by some butt-hurt users because of the recent merit updates Grin Tongue

I've been trying to reply on this thread for multiple times but it doesn't come in! I hope this one will be successful.

I've been having an intermittent issue that started 8 hours ago, but the error I see is different, it's ERROR 502.

Normally, if given a choice to do something and nothing, I choose to do nothing.
But I will do something if it helps someone else to do nothing.
I'd work all night if it meant nothing got done.

When I woke up early in the morning, i logged in my account and surprises me with Gateway ERROR 502. I think another DDOS (Distributed Denial Of Service) attack that slows the loading of the forum. Youre not the only one mate.

This has happened a lot and usually I just have enough to wait, I know the forum will be back to normal within a few hours. I do not understand about system and DDoS or whatever it is, so I never know what is actually happening on the forum. Huh

It's a DDoS.

Isnt cloudflare supposed to protect from that?

If it isnt, what is the point of having it.

I guess it would have been much worse without it.

But maybe your code that you wrote would have held up better against this ddos

Cloudflare is the worst antiDDOS provider. I am a hosting provider myself, so I know what I am saying. I have seen no end of sites being DDOS attacked and Cloudflare keeps showing the "host not reachable" instead of vacuuming the bad packets away and mitigate the attack. How pathetic.

Seriously, it's a joke of a company/service, and an expensive one too.

There fare far better alternatives, cheaper and working better.

Cloudflare sucks!

It's a DDoS.

Meanwhile in the cloudflare website :
Quote
Under DDoS Attack? We Can Protect You in an Emergency
Cloudflare mitigates DDoS attacks, including those that target UDP and ICMP protocols, SYN/ACK, DNS and NTP amplification and Layer 7 attacks. Our global network has defended against sustained attacks over 400Gbps. If you're under DDoS attack, we can get your site back online within minutes.
Yeah, within few minutes...

Protection against DDoS attacks of all forms and sizes
24/7/365 support backed by our team of security experts
Predictable, flat pricing regardless of attack size or duration
Use of Anycast for both DNS and TCP

Mitigates both app-based and volumetric attacks

Since cloudflare implemented we experienced less ddos attacks, i don't know whether cloudflare is doing a good job or the attackers getting lazy... but for sure CF isn't the perfect solution.  Undecided

Remember, you always get what you pay for, including CF.
Just because there are big names in the industry, that does mean that you have to use them.

It's not just you mate, I am also experiencing this kind of problems, it took 30 minutes for me to have my quote posted, which is kinda unusual because the other day it was fine but today about two of my post took time before it loaded properly, are there any server maintenance.

Been seeing it quite often over the last couple weeks.  Usually after an hour or 2 it clears up.

It's a DDoS.

Isnt cloudflare supposed to protect from that?
AFAIK, cloudflare can prevent some small scale DDoS attacks but it isn't a sure shot method to prevent all DDoS attacks, large scale DDoS attacks can easily bypass cloudflare.

Yes, it happened last night for me as well. And I think this was also an attack from hackers, only admin can confirm.
