What does overtaking mean exactly? Both will rise in price and market capitalization.
But I assume they will occupy different tasks in the crypto world.
I think that Ethereum might be a bossible coin with which many payments are made in the future.
I do not think it will be bitcoin, despite the lightning network. People will see bitcoin as an investment, and that will stop them from using it as payment.

I think that it will, it seems like it gets close here and there but more frequent.
If you think it will then for me it's a big no. Think of it that bitcoin will be replaced by ethereum, there's no problem with it but to make this thing into reality I really doubt it that it can happen.
What do you think the result of a flip would be even if it lasted an hour?
Then many will panic buy for bitcoin.
How would that affect the prices of BTC/ETH? What would be some outcomes of a flip?
Just swap their places.

It is possible because Bitcoin has increased it's price even ATH in the market but whereas ETH is still undervalued even though it has potential in the market. But I am completely not saying that ETH is our future coin, there are chances the price can increase in the market.

I think it's hard to happen, because after all the bitcoin is the main crypto and is very influential on other altcoin developments. this is the benchmark. see when bitcoin falls, all altcoin follow it. but when altcoin falls, it has no effect on bitcoin
That's the true reality, altcoins completely depend upon the bitcoin. This is an usual thing and the same can be learned from the price drops of altcoins taking place along with bitcoin. Same time while altcoins fall, bitcoin won't be affected big. This is all because of the dependence of altcoins on bitcoin. In this regard overtaking bitcoin by Eth won't take place.

No, Ethereum can't replace Bitcoin in the near future at least. Its very good altcoin with very promising potential, but it is still far away from Bitcoin's stats and position. Bitcoin is a lot more used, trusted and still the most valuable crypto currency until now.
agree on that , never in any instances that eth can overpower to bitcoin although their blockchain technology is very impressive but the price value  would be matter, it is a basis why bitcoin has been on the top for the fast years

There is possibility ETH could takeover due to cheaper transaction fee But Remember always

That's a fact, not only a rumour. Bitcoin is facing a big problem with its transaction fees and block confirmation.
You can tell blockstream to give another solution again to the bitcoin scalability problem, even all of the blockstream plan run perfectly just like segwit with nothing differences than before.

I think yes but not today because Ethereum still has a lot to undergo before reaching that milestone. And also there's a really low chance that could happen even in the future because bitcoin is the pioneer cryptocurrency.

I think it's possible for ETH to get over Bitcoin but IMO this process will take really long time Smiley. In the future it'll be the era of ICO project and ETH blockchain is hinge of almost ICO project so I think ETH price in the future will increase very quickly but to be able to get over Bitcoin I think it'll take at least few more years cause Bitcoin price is not stable and wait for ETH Smiley

The reason for this is only because people still do not know much about other coins and they see bitcoin as being the guiding light for the others. In time as more and more people understand the benefits then they can realise that success of alts is not dependent on bitcoin and then Eth can and probably will overtake bitcoin.

I don't think ETH has any chance to take the 1st place of Bitcoin on the coinmarketcap and become the king of crypto world Smiley). Bitcoin has been the king of this world for long time and it'll keep being the king in the future. Although the price of ETH has increased very quickly since last year but Bitcoin price is also increasing as well. At the moment The price of Bitcoin is about 10 times higher than ETH price, it's a big gap and ETH is almost has no chance to reach to the same price as Bitcoin Smiley

It does seem reasonably likely. I think one effect would be a lot of mainstream media attention. Hopefully it would lead to alt prices decoupling from bitcoin. At the moment bitcoin moves can dictate the whole market. As crypto matures, it will be necessary for coins to rise and fall more on their own merits. So I think it would be healthy for the whole of crypto if BTC were dethroned as number one in cap - even if only for a while.

Many say it will since transaction on BTC is congested, too much slow, and other, will it will happen the same when ETH if it will become more popular and used more than BTC, well BTC can be overcome by some coins, but it will stay as the basis for all coins' price and value, so I think no need to replace or overcome but they should consider how they can make all the transaction better and faster.
