据韩联社报道，韩国财政部长金东兖在去中国参加经济论坛的路上，对区块链的潜力做出了积极评价：

区块链可以在全世界掀起一场革命。



在与中国人民银行行长周小川的会晤中，金东兖也谈到韩国需要与中国就区块链技术开展更多的合作。

另据韩国新闻网站Chosun报道，金东兖重申：韩国财政部没有计划在国内禁止或限制加密货币，并补充说：

区块链技术是推动第四次工业革命的重要技术突破口。因此，该部门将在规范加密货币市场时采取谨慎的态度。对于加密货币的非法使用，该部门将严格控制。

虽然一些人认为加密货与区块链技术带来的社会效益并不相关，但是，金东兖认为这两者密不可分的：

对于区块链开源平台来说，加密货币是激励个人参与该平台的必要条件。

金东兖对区块链和加密货币的积极评价是在韩国严格限制加密货币投资和交易之后出现的。该国加密货币匿名交易禁令和虚惊一场的全面加密货币禁令使得市场情绪陷入低迷。
