Lending currently on hold. I'll update when I resume loans. Thanks!

I have up to 20 BTC to loan at 1%!!!

No questions asked, and brand new users welcomed, even if you just registered today.

Terms
  • You must supply collateral before receiving a loan
  • Collateral must be in the form of LTC, XPM, PPC, or mcxFEE shares (mcxNOW.com)
  • The amount of collateral will be 15% more than you're borrowing (ie. in order to borrow 10 BTC, you must supply 12 BTC worth of Litecoins at current market value). Likewise for mcxFEE shares.
  • All loans are for a period of one week, unless agreed upon otherwise
  • All collateral transfers must be from an address that YOU control

Example Request
Amount requested: 1 BTC
Purpose: I don't care (No questions asked, etc)
Term: 1 week
Trusted?: I don't care. You're supplying collateral.

Reply to this thread if you're interested.

Edit: 10/18/2013: I need to scale back the loan pool to 20 BTC due to the diminishing LTC/BTC exchange rate.
Edit: Patch notes 02/01/2014
  • Lending resumed
  • Interest changed from 0% to 1%
  • Added PPC to list of acceptable forms of collateral
  • Tx fees on collateral return are now free
  • Collateral amount reduced from 120% to 115% of loan amount

Yeah 1 week is just the default term. If you need a different term length, just throw it out there and we'll go from there.

    (Scratches head)
So I send you 12 BTC worth of coins, and in return you send me 10 BTC worth of coins, and a week later we swap back?
See, to me that isn't you lending me 10 BTC, it is me lending you 2 BTC. (And paying all fees, and having no security.)
Is anyone dumb enough to take you up on it?

What's so dumb about it? In the event of a default, I have 120% of the value I loaned out. If you're long on LTC and don't intend on selling any time soon, but you need an extra 10 BTC infusion, this is a perfect opportunity. These loans are not for those who have nothing to begin with,  nor are they for those who have no intention of paying back. Though I certainly welcome the latter Cheesy

And in the case of no default, you've received an interest free loan of 2 BTC for a week, you can't really lose.
It certainly isn't dumb from your side of the deal.

You are receiving interest free loans. It is equivalent to:
You provide me with 10 BTC collateral, and I loan you 12 BTC worth of LTC for a week.

It sure is a strong deterrent from running off with my coins though, isn't it?

This thread is 50% educative and 50% trollish, and thus I like it. Grin

As much as I sincerly doubt anyone will use it - although it might prove to be very useful in some rare circumstances, 0% loans need to be praised.
Stunna who offered the same service without the collateral requirement already got scammed for 0.4BTC, it seems.

You cannot blame 0 risk, 0% loans. They can be useful to some people, period.

What would prevent someone from simply exchanging the LTC to BTC?

They may not always want to - for example, if they want to hold a long position on LTC but need BTC.

I am glad I set the bar so high as it has lead to 0 interest loans for more people and hopefully makes the use of collateral more wide spread Smiley

what you are doing is good and I hope more people do the same Smiley

(I sent 500LTC collateral for a 5BTC loan so your doing it for a lot less % wise just remember that LTC can go up or down over 20% don't want you to end up out of pocket )

This is the way loans should be done, the massive interest/default rates are simply a joke. Great how sustainable this is as well, there is so much incentive for the borrower to pay you back and even if they don't you profit. I'm sure we're going to see a lot more threads like this soon.

Exceptions to collateral should only be made for highly trusted members and only with good reason.

Yes, and the collateral should also be secure.   No mention of what would be done with the litecoins.  Will he simply hold them, or will he play investment games with them.   Whose to say the borrowers would ever see their collateral again should something like the gox rumors make the price sky rocket.

Ok, just so everyone is on the same page.   What happens with collateral in your case?   Will you leave it in a designated address untouched.   Or, will you use it for your own trading/etc activities?  Fine either way, but good to know what the situation would be.

It'll just sit in a wallet until the loan is paid back. I've been mining LTC since I could do 4 or 5 hundred a day with CPUs, so I have a nice chunk of my own now. There really isn't any need for me to gamble with a couple thousand of somebody else's LTC. It's the only way that I can think of that puts the risk on the borrower. Lenders have for too long taken all the risk and have gotten shafted time and time again.

Fair enough.  Sounds good then.   I'm surprised there has been no takers yet given you've been in every thread  Wink

lol yeah, I was wondering that too.  That just proves how many moles are just waiting to scam members of bitcointalk....

This thread is not about lending or borrowing.
It's about scam-killing. And it is pretty efficient. Grin

1000 ltc to be held for a loan of 17.5 btc.

This is a mark up of 120%

I request the loan for 1 month.

    Is this possible?

Of course I will pay all fees (I will send 1000 ltc + the fee that is required for you to send it back, in addition I will also send you 17.5001 btc after the loan to compensate for the fee paid when sending me the initial 17.5 btc)

EDIT: Once I return the 17.5001 btc I will receive back the 1000 ltc? (I am asking incase this is a trick where you send me back the market value of Litecoins in a month)

Yes, that's correct. Once you repay the BTC, your original 1000 LTC will be returned. I'm at work right now though, so I'll PM you the LTC address to deposit at in about 10hrs.

Will you take my dog as collateral instead of LTC?  He is well groomed and needs to be walked only twice per day.

I would be willing to fatten him up if necessary to provide additional collateral.  He presently weighs 20 pounds but I can get him up to 28 prior to our closing.

Your loan is tantamount to saying, I'll lend you $100 US dollars, if you give me $120 Canadian dollars.

And especially since I can take my $120 Canadian dollars, and go to the bank and exchange them for the $100 US dollars I needed in the first place.

Your loans do little more than frusturate scammers, allong with honest peoples who just want to borrow a few coins.

That said, I do not see you changing the lending landscape. Tomatocage, you need to lower your borrowing requirements for the sake of the community.

If a loan has no chance of default, where's the fun in that? ?Sad

    Yes.

Bitcoin used to be cool man, it used to be edgy. Now it's all gone corporate and sold out.

You don't own your Bitcoin anymore, it's owned by big fat cats like BFL taking over, selling you their overpriced wares like virtual slaves so you can keep mining profitably.

Then greedy loan-sharks like Tamatocage want your first born to lend you a few piddly coins.

Hands off my Litecoin bro. A man's word should be enough to get him a loan in this community. If you can't trust a man's word, what can you trust?

For shame. The Bitcoin has changed, it's sold out to corporate corruption.

Bitcoin used to be cool man. Bitcoin isn't everything. Relationships with our fellow Bitcoiners is what is important, and it's time we're reminded of that before it's too late.

I propose Tamatocage starts loaning BTC with no strings attached.

It's time people stop being denied a chance to borrow Bitcoin just because they lack money or "things."  Those fat cat executives at BFL can live in their fancy mansions, drinking their little fancy martinis, but it's time we bring Bitcoin back to who really matters; the people.

Let's do it bro, lets make it happen!

Not everybody wants to get rid of their LTC with the forthcoming adoption by MtGox. Sure, sell your LTC for BTC today, and tomorrow MtGox goes live with their LTC support and they shoot up to $10 per LTC.

Most places that will accept collateral for loans will only loan a percentage of what the item is worth, not full value. Go to a pawn shop with a computer, do you think that they will loan you for full value of that computer? No way, otherwise, that's an easy sell on your end and the pawn shop would be out of business for lending people full value. ALSO pawn shops charge interest on the money loaned, too!

I am sure tomatocage would accept other forms of collateral as long as the value is there and resale is an option to make back your loses (and usually some more for the hassle of now having to sell / dump collateral to regain the loan value back - time is money!)

So for all you haters out there, this isn't the worst terms for a loan by far.

    Terms
    • You must supply collateral before receiving a loan
    • Collateral must be in the form of Litecoins or mcxFEE shares (mcxNOW.com)
    • The amount of collateral will be 20% more than you're borrowing (ie. in order to borrow 10 BTC, you must supply 12 BTC worth of Litecoins at current market value). Likewise for mcxFEE shares.
    • All loans are for a period of one week, unless agreed upon otherwise
    • You must pay all transaction fees (I can't do this for 0% interest and eat Tx fees)
    • All collateral transfers must be from an address that YOU control
    Amount requested: 1 BTC
    Purpose: I don't care
    Term: 1 week

    Hello.
    Do you accept KGC collateral?

No, sorry. The only alt cryptos I'm currently accepting are LTC, XPM, and mcxNOW shares.

Needing a quick loan if possible of BTC1.5 (needed for a purchase).  I can offer up LTC as collateral.  I get a mining payout (6 BTC) sometime tomorrow and can repay you then.

Trade with extreme caution!!!! Lookout TomatoCage is a confirmed scammer!!!!!!

He's robbed many small children of their anul virginity. He recently accidentally deep throated a chicken, he works in KFC, so he got told to deep fry a chicken, but because he's so use to deep throating sublime, he thought he meant to deep throat a chicken. The chicken pecked his tiny knob off, so now he's only half the rapist he once was, although his weener is very small, he is still a danger to the younger males as his dick can cause moderate to mild pain in your anus.

Ok, try now. I had sent it this morning but then had to VPN into work so I think that effectively cut off my Bitcoin client from the network before it could broadcast the transaction. I see it showing up on Blockchain.info now: https://blockchain.info/tx/16d0fb9523be2dfc7dcfeff3c7bad41a49c6c1c97299a1ab9a097edd529126e4

Are loans supposed to be fun?   Wink

If you can't trust a man's word, what can you trust?

    ....

    +1

You can generally trust a man's word, but when you get little kids asking for loans to go gamble and scam you then you need collateral.

Requesting a small loan of 0.20 btc

Will repay 0.225 btc within a week from time of loan given

I do not have collateral, I plan on purchasing btc on Tuesday.  Can't do so momentarily since banks aren't open.

I will be purchasing via cash deposit on LocalBitcoins, however,

Here's a recent thread in which I repaid a loan early and in full as promised:

    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=310177.msg3345218#msg3345218

If you decide to provide me with this loan of 0.20 btc,

Please send to my payment address:

    1JP2yPVpkYM2qkUQUuvFu722jhPbrFSgAa

and provide your BTC address that you'd like to me to pay the 0.225 btc

(or PM me if you'd like to keep your btc address private)

    Thank you for your time

    Denied.

Forgive me if I am missing something but how is this a viable business.

If the price of the Litecoins, Primecoins, or mcxFEE shares decrease by over 20% during the loan period the borrower could purposefully default on the loan to essentially ensure a maximum of 20% loss on their collateral.
If the price of the Litecoins, Primecoins, or mcxFEE shares don't fall below 20% of the price set when the loan took place then you would simply pay back the BTC with zero interest.

This is exactly the risk I take and why I try to limit the loan term to 1 week.

Yeah, pretty much. It's more of a service than a money-making method for me. Tips are always welcome though Smiley

Correct sir. If he doesn't want to do it like that, he doesn't need to. It's just a suggestion. If he added a 1% interest, then he should be dealing using more coins to attract more people.

    • Collateral must be in the form of Litecoins, Primecoins, or mcxFEE shares (mcxNOW.com)
This idea popped to my mind just recently, but I might've understood the thread completely wrong.
Have you considered, that someone might use this as a hedge against LTC, Prime/mcxFEE crash (and also shorting bitcoin?)?
    Example:
    1) One takes a loan of 1 BTC at btc price of 100 LTC (120 LTC as an insurance)
    2) Bitcoin price rises and is worth 140 LTC
    3) Loan defaults and you are left with 120 LTC, which is 0.85 BTC
    OR
    2) Bitcoin crashes and in that unlikely event when LTC (or others) do not, the loan is paid back resulting in the loss of BTC.

I am not sure, if this came up already and if you've already thought of this. This is only a theory, since usually BTC and LTC (and others) drop/rise the same time.

Except if 1BTC=100LTC at the time of the loan, TC will ask for 125 or 150 LTC as collateral or whatever he considers safe to avoid 3).
Or at least that's what I understood. Grin

Kouye is correct. The reason why I ask for 20% over the value of the loan is to serve as wiggle room should the exchange rate between the collateral and BTC take a dive. And that's also why I try to keep the loan term to 7 days.

Oh, right understood, I might've not read the thread throughout. I would use this method, but defaulting on a loan is not cool.
EDIT: Read some more of the thread and apparently this has been asked already. Good luck!

    Hi,

I would like to apply for another loan here.

    Amount requested : 1.39BTC@1N8F6SnRLQaSgkHCD9QkMiDxHrTysMiU8g
payback : 1.391BTC  includes transfer fee coverage.
    payback address : 1H3qSm2fjYXuejLSu2ZhVdtUedknSkkhgu
    payback date : Wednesday 11/27/2013
Collateral  : I have a big chunk in a pending cash out from http://www.bitcoinsports.eu/inv/aa8e3 and the pay out have been
peding for more than a week now.
                    I invested 6.9869 BTC here https://blockchain.info/tx/a3c7a9e2f44d1675153c55541ef904497bd5e04ef63e037ebe7c73d1206f947c

This loan will buy me a week more to the investment out off bitcoinsports.eu and make me able to meet my obligations regardning
the https://btcjam.com/listings/7497 without me having to buy some BTC at the current rather high price.

    Thanks

Hi Tomatocage I was wondering if it would be possible to borrow 1.4 Bitcoin for a few days.

I run a Free Mining giveaway and am purchasing an Antminer S1 to be used to mine for others and myself on it.

I'm not sure what I can really give you for collateral but I've ran multiple giveaways that have gone well past 700 posts with payouts being issued up to the time of the Giveaway closing.

I understand if this is not enough collateral or you consider it too high Risk

Hope you as always have nice day though  Cheesy

It's not the risk I'm concerned with. In fact I'd lend BTC to pirateat40, candoo, or TradeFortress in a heartbeat if they provide adequate collateral. If you can come up with collateral, I can have BTC in your wallet within the hour.
