So, it's a totally new launch, same name, differant genesis block and it's already being labeled a scam??? What do we do? Keep going?

I just wonder does anybody remember this coin after all these years?
I used to have few Maples in my wallet very long time ago...

I used to have few Maples in my wallet very long time ago... You'd have to start a pool and have a permanent Node up and running and probably be listed on an exchange (and a website, twitter and even Facebook account) thrown in for good measure. A couple of shit coins have been reactivated after they were mined to death for a few weeks (or even months) before being revived (hence they had the Lion's share of coins) Which version do you have?

This thread was where I first figured out how PoS works. Hurrrrrr
Would be nice to get this going again but I believe the original blockchain is stalled due to the negative retarget bug. It would need the source updated and a new client compiled.

Have just restarted Maples wallet, all transactions are gone and just two wallet address remain, client version: v1.0.0.0-map
build date: 9-4-13
current number of blocks: 48070
estimated total blocks: 9
Last block time: Sun 23. Mar 10:45:18 2014 which is close to when the last post was here... Am just trying to locate the "take over" thread...

I don't think it was a takeover, more just a new coin that coincidentally came up with the same name. Could be wrong. 23-Mar-2014 11:37:17 height: 48063 mint: 0.020808 difficulty: 0.00398903 flags: proof-of-stake tx: 2 23-Mar-2014 11:38:50 height: 48064 mint: 0.023326 difficulty: 0.00390625 flags: proof-of-stake tx: 2 23-Mar-2014 11:42:54 height: 48065 mint: 0.022286 difficulty: 0.00390625 flags: proof-of-stake tx: 2 23-Mar-2014 11:44:06 height: 48066 mint: 0.023546 difficulty: 0.00390625 flags: proof-of-stake tx: 2 23-Mar-2014 11:50:13 height: 48067 mint: 0.023984 difficulty: 0.00390625 flags: proof-of-stake tx: 2 23-Mar-2014 12:00:17 height: 48068 mint: 0.021684 difficulty: 0.00390625 flags: proof-of-stake tx: 2 23-Mar-2014 12:03:29 height: 48069 mint: 0.019439 difficulty: 0.00390625 flags: proof-of-stake tx: 2 23-Mar-2014 11:45:18 height: 48070 mint: 9.260096 difficulty: 0.00390625 flags: proof-of-stake tx: 2 *** NEG TIME (1091s) Here's the last few blocks in my blockchain, time went backwards by about 18 minutes which killed the retargeting algorithm. Lots of older unmaintained coins have this bug.

By the way, it may be possible to effectively orphan that last block, which will allow new blocks to be added to the chain (using existing clients), but until the source is updated the network will remain susceptible to the retarget bug.

If we both have the same last block number 48070, then if a node were started which we connected to, all three would then be deemed to be correct and we could go from there no?

No, it's a bit more complicated than that. Because of the bug it is currently impossible to generate any new blocks, no matter how many peers are connected together. I would need to do some fiddling with the blockchain db so that my client rolls back to 48069 (one prior to the buggy block), then privately mine at least two extra blocks to override the end of chain and orphan the buggy block. I've done this before for another coin, I think it was GRW, so it's definitely possible... just... is it worth it?

We seem to be on our own, besides, if it can't mine past 48070, why not? How can you mine two more after rolling back one block?

Rolling back one block would allow me to create a new block of height 48070, and orphan the invalid one. From there it is possible to mine further blocks as per usual, BUT, another block with a wayward timestamp at any time in the future will cause the blockchain to stall again. I guess this is basically an attack, of sorts, but obviously with good intentions. Anyone can do this right now, since the blockchain isn't moving - it CAN'T move in its current state - so the blockchain is basically completely insecure for as long as it's stalled.
