网上流出的照片显示，中国海军在一艘坦克登陆舰安装了电磁轨道炮。舷号936的坦克登陆舰为海洋山号，072Ⅱ级，已经服役了20多年。这艘军舰有足够的空间可以安装轨道炮的控制系统和电力系统。 电磁轨道炮（Railgun）是一种将电能转换成被投射物的动能的加速装置，抛射体能被加速到最高7马赫，飞行距离超过100英里。英国的BAE Systems公司曾从美国海军研究办公室获得了价值2100万美元的合同，为美海军开发磁道炮。但由于五角大楼的预算问题以及战略能力办公室对其失去兴趣，该项目已经基本停滞。
