I made some bitcoin fliers and put them on some bulletin boards and posts around Asheville NC today.

I think everyone should make some fliers and put them around their town.  Building a local bitcoin base will make bitcoin alot less of a headache to use.

I would upload the flier up here for people to copy, but my hard drive managed to crash shortly after I printed them.  All I did was pretty much copy the wording used in the "What is Bitcoin" video.   I also used the "most dangerous project we've ever seen" quote from launch media,  close to the top to spark interest.

Very open to someone who is actually a graphic designer to make a flier.  Doesn't have to be all colorful cause ink is expensive. lol

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Create a new one!

Or maybe TheBitMan would take on such a simple task as creating fliers that could match the look of his commercials http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=28572.0

We need volatility to attract people. Right now, there is none.

Bitcoin is a merely a teenager --not yet responsible enough or adult enough to be a major economic market player.

It's not a baby, and it's not an infant anymore either.

It's a teenager and this teenager can't grow if it's grounded and not growing internally.

Stability will come. It'll come when there are as many bitcoin users as facebook users or credit card users.

Moral of the Story: I don't think it's the right time to flyer until the issues are resolved. People are going to look at the market and get discouraged. The market is flat and hardly any vendors accept bitcoin.

Be humble!

Agreed, put resources and energy to making sure shit within is right before personally exposing Bitcoin (as media resources have been covering decently, NPR yesterday, Forbes today)

Sorry I guess I disagree.  Volitility will attract more traders and not venders.   I dont see anything wrong with making bitcoin known locally in your area.  I'd love not to go through mt. gox or tradehill to buy and sell bitcoins.  I'd love to buy all kinds of crap on craigslist with my bitcoins.   If I have a problem backing up my wallet I can ask someone locally to help me in person or I can help someone who's new.   You are a trader so you have a different angle on the situation.

EDIT: I found out about bitcoin from a random piece of paper that I found on the floor in a coffee shop in New Orleans about a month and a half ago.

If someone gathers the text they want.

Any particular fonts they like (check dafont.com and other sites).

Colors, etc.

I will put up in this thread some .psd .png and other file types for everyone.  This is super simple, if the other parts of this are done, I'll do the arrangement/editing/design in Photoshop for you all Smiley

I put a couple fliers up at Stanford University, and on Castro street in Mountain View.

Both have towers all over the place for posting fliers.

Castro street takes the fliers down roughly every other week, I haven't kept close track, and posted my flyer just after the clean up.

Mainly I had my BitcoinBonus referral link on it.  they were all bit.ly links don't know how many people manually type them in, one person did scan a QR code.

I also provided a few extra thumb tacks, that have disappeared.  The board cleaner never removes the staples, so theres thousands left behind, Hope the value of staple metal goes up soon, so those guys who go around stealing copper, can actually do something useful.

I think Asheville is a great target for this kind of thing.  The 3 people in my company meet in Asheville because it's approximately equidistant from each of our homes.  I'll look for the flier the next time we're having a meeting.

Haha, funny you should mention Asheville NC "mayabong".  You should flier BTC for MJ (or maybe MJ for BTC).  Just saying.. never been there myself but I know some folks who have emigrated.

Good work, hitting the streets to promote BTC never occurred to me.  Since we need volatility... anyone in NYC wanna flier up and down Wall Street?
