or some need to justify how they had money in their accounts though the years

Maybe they want to use the old wallet address and have many deals to prove that they have a good trading history and their reputation with partners. I suspect that these people may be using these wallets to cheat because if they are truly transparent they can make a wallet of their own with the highest security features.

the best possible answer is for claiming the CLAM airdrop, the Bitcoin address before 2014 dec has a CLAM in it, the clam airdrop distributed using Bitcoin address. Other than that I think there is no point to buy old address.

I really cannot understand what you mean by washing money,you think that people will be submitted it to tax authorities and they will be paying those amounts too as tax  ,i am not sure how that works and i am not sure why anyone wants old accounts unless to show off to others,yeah you could collect CLAM earlier,but it makes no sense .
