Well it is a two sided argument.
Just as is those in south korea is blaming crypto for allowing the north of by-passing sanctions on their county with funneling money out by what was stolen last week from Japan's largest exchange in the form of neo. Shocked

In the world there are a lot of unskilled/home investors. Government just want to save their money: everybody knows that >50% ICOs are just scams!

Why Canadian official wants Google to ban ads for crypto?

I think they just only want to protect there citizen to the scammers in the cryptocurrency industry because we know that there are many scammers in the crypto industry. If my instinct is right it will be good but if I am wrong maybe cryptocurrency hitch to there projects, i just don't know if it will be good or bad. My opinion only

a lot of dudes in the world want a lot of different things to happen, that doesn't mean those things are going to happen.

and when it comes to some officials, specialty one who feels threatened by bitcoin, you shouldn't take them very seriously because they are talking out of fear for their current position in the world.

Because a lot of the ads are very scammy. Most of them are from bogus ICOs aiming to make a quick buck. I'm assuming they're creating a lot of trouble for Facebook to actually ban them outright; they're turning away money after all.

That being said, I don't think a blanket ban is the answer. It penalizes legit players in the crypto industry and just makes it seem like they're too lazy to enforce better screening. It also sends a message that the cryptocurrency market is a scam in general, which is unfortunate.

very unfortunate if it happens, because if google banned crypto ads, it could result in a little disrupt the sales process if in ICO. And it will interfere with all the news about crypto.
I think he only thinks negative about this digital currency, so he wants it.

For the same that Facebook has banned advertising on your platform, because thanks to this have been many scams, is a way to protect users from falling into these traps. I think so ... Although it may also be something to prevent the popularity of cryptocurrency from expanding further.

There too many people getting scam by crypto ads. The people who fall these are vulnerable people like elderly and young people. If people keep getting bad things happening to them from these ads that being promoted, Google will loss some reputation and credibility. Google don't want that, so bye bye crypto ads. These also really hard to track these scammer because crytpo are consider untraceable.

Why Canadian official wants Google to ban ads for crypto?

It's because lots of those ads have hidden Monero miners that are infecting people's machines.

We don't need Google ads for crypto, especially when there is so much free information available, not least on this forum.

It's just there way of protecting people from the scans as the people said. Since the sudden spike in Bitcoin prices last year everyone thought of it as too much of a easy money so it's easy for them to get scammed as people tend to make hasty decisions without actually learning about it.

may be these days we can see lot of scam ICOs.they use google ads as the main promoting method of their ICO.Lot of people believe google so they invest in popping scam ICOs.i think that is the main reason canadian official said so.canada is a crypto currency friendly country in the world.may be they trying to protect people from scam ICO traps. But banning all ICO ads are not a fair thing.because we can see few ICOs that have a huge potential with a working product.so google must give a chance to that kind of ICOs to promote their product.

Why Canadian official wants Google to ban ads for crypto?

See for a business to say no to advertisers needs a lot of courage. Google does not want to get associated with scams and frauds that are being launched these days claiming to be the best ICO launched.

It's possible there's some negative experience involved, when people who don't know how it works get deceived by cryptocurrency swindlers and lose money because of it.
