How is that different than the USA then. Bitcoin isn't banned there but they don't allow online Bitcoin gambling.

Basically I am pretty sure Bitcoin gambling wouldn't be banned anywhere if BTC was 10 cents.

But since it's becoming more and more mainstream. All the casino and gambling corps are losing money and forcing the government to make it illegal.

Yep. USA is fucked too.
It's probably because of that provably fair system.
They would lose big money if they had to prove how the game comes up with an outcome.

USA is totally fucked up after the Black Friday. They are one of the most communistic 'democracy' in the world.
But Australian markets are open for foreigners after verification. And their laws are forcing the local bookies to offer very decent services.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

It doesn't matter whose next because they will take the ban away so they can regulate and tax the crap out of it. Look no further than the USA for the leading power and a bullish signal.

This is the best example of Carrot and Stick first instill the fear in the minds of people, then sugar coat them guess what just pay taxes and we're cool. This is the norm these days, what gullible gamblers don't understand say X country has banned it, how will they track it?

I can use VPN buy and sell in cryptos and play online gambling there's no chance of them finding out.

People get smart and know you cannot be tracked!

You may be way more tech-savvy than the average person, who is interested in
online gambling. How many people don´t even know what a VPN is yet alone are
able to use one?

I´d argue that the regulatory entities don´t care if 10 % of the people still
participate in a prohibited activity by using a VPN or an anonymous payment method.
They care about the 90 % of the people, who don´t care enough or don´t know
how to circumvent the regulations.

Gambling can be banned in some countries, in many others gambling will never be banned, not a chance for that. Some countries will be all about gambling, some islands are gambling paradises, like some towns, Las Vegas, Macao, Monte Carlo, and many others.
And we have crypto, you can hide yourself in many ways and that kind of gambling will never be banned globally, some counties like Australia will have some restrictions but even people from there have ways to gamble. I support comment that says we will always find a way if we wish enough.

Not just Australia but the states have banned sportsbook casinos for several years now. I remember a site, I think it was bodog, that did not allow anyone from the united states to access their site and it was in their terms of service. The latest one which was considered on of the largest bitcoin casinos banned customer from the states accessing their site a while ago. Just go to Cloudbet's old ANN thread to see quite a bit of accusations against them in not paying out winnings. They can hide behind their terms of service in rejecting paying their customers if they are trying to access their site behind a VPN.
Casinos are smarter than you think.
VPNs can not be used on certain casino sites as they are detected and refused access with a message saying you are using a vpn thus can not proceed or just timesout without loading the selected website.

I'll be amazed that you actually believe that people who gamble online wont know about VPN, this is one of the most basic thing that people coming to gambling know. There're many countries which does'nt allow gambling yet using VPN they gamble highest. See for me if a gambler really wants to bet he'll find a way. As far as the condition in Australia is there any further update regarding the situation or there's been no new news till date?

Actually, a few guys I know who USE VPN don't realize that's what they're doing. These aren't old people either, just a few years around my age. They use mobile phones and internet a lot, social media and all that, and use VPNs but the simple add ons like with browser extensions or phone apps. They don't even realise it's a VPN they just know it lets them surf places the government won't let them.

So... yeah I'm not surprised if ppl don't realize. You say VPN they say huh?

VPN won't save them when they are required to upload their ID to verify themselves for KYC purposes unless they also have fake documents which is essentially illegal. It may work for Bitcoin casinos but in the real world it wouldn't at all  Wink

The irony here is that if it weren't for governments trying to tax poker and banks freezing credit card payments to online casinos, then I would never have invested so heavily into bitcoin Cheesy
No point in learning to play poker if the house and government's rakes cut so deep into my EV. Now I have 2.9btc because I've learned not to trust the banks. Especially during wartime.

P.S. VPNs don't hide metadata, and those that do have a very slow ping. Anyone wiretapping you will know what sites you visit.

Australia didn't ban bitcoin gambling per se,everything non-sport related betting was illegal long ago
so this article has nothing to do with reality
also even if it is illegal,it cannot be enforced if you want to gamble at home, unless they put some sophisticated ISP level filters
and snoop your traffic, which is outrageous in itself
but if there are australian based casinos, they must comply,i.e. they cannot get licensed there and won't accepr AU users (but none said you could not use VPN,right?)
