Hello bitcoiners!

I just downloaded my first bitcoin wallet today! (MultiBit)
And I also started Mine pooling a few hours ago. I downloaded (guiminer) for mac from this source: (http://blog.nwoolls.com/2013/04/23/bitcoin-mining-on-mac-os-x-guiminer/)

Ofcourse I want to make sure im doing this right. So this is what my information looks like:

I've had it on for 10min and it still says shares 0, is this normal?
On my profile this is what I see:

Explain this to me please <3

Well for starters, you're mining with your CPU. So it's possible that your hash rate is do low that it's not showing up in the pool stats. I'd recommend getting Diablominer since you're on a Mac. Cgminer is good too, but it's trickier to install on a Mac since you'll have to compile it from source.

It's pointless to mine bitcoins with a CPU.

What kind of graphics card do you have?

You should look into mining a "CPU only" alt currency (be careful what you install on your machine).

Primecoin (XPM), Quark (QRK) ... stuff like that. Then exchange them for BTC.

Thanks for the response! Now in it says "shares:2" on my miner but when I check the website I still 0, why is this? And I tried Diablominer! but I get this output:
Quote

[9/8/13 10:18:39 PM] Connecting to: http://api.bitcoin.cz:8332/

[9/8/13 10:18:39 PM] ERROR: OpenCL platform Apple is not OpenCL 1.1 or later
[9/8/13 10:18:39 PM] ERROR: No OpenCL devices found

Do I have to install OpenCL? whats the problem?

Thanks!

Your GPU might be the problem here. What kind of graphics card do you have? You need an Open Cl compatible GPU, i.e. an AMD/ATI card. If you've got an Nvidia card, don't bother even trying to mine. It won't be worth it.

I have an AMD cpu but the problem is it only supports OpenCl 1.0 do you know any mining tools that I can use with 1.0?

Phasma - save yourself the heartache and pain ... mining bitcoins with a CPU will yield you Nada, Zilt...Waste of time. Its actually a challenge to generate any significant amount of coins with CPU mining these days. I would get a the best GPU I could find i.e. Radeon 7950 etc. and start there.....

Don't cpu mine, it's waste of electricity and your hardware. invest in good asics (not bfl) or buy mining shares (labcoin etc.)
