I went to BTC-e for the trading, but stayed for the trollbox. Wink

I started out on Mt.Gox, as many do, but pulled everything out of there a long time ago when warning signs first started appearing.

Before using any exchange, research as much as possible to see if others have had problems getting their money out. Also make sure they support 2-factor authentication and use it! The only thing that concerns me about BTC-e is the language barrier with support, but I've only needed support once and PMing dev got it fixed within a couple minutes.

I made the mistake of transferring some BTC to MtGox only to find that I can't get it out again without supplying them with ID, fingerprints, blood and DNA samples, and of course my firstborn's soul.

So no MtGox for new traders.  I've been looking at Campbx (https://campbx.com/main.php).  I like the feel of the site but haven't tried them yet.

I can definitely vouch for CampBX. It's the only exchange I've used since I got into Bitcoin a little less than a year ago.

I would not recommend btc-e.
It is hard to get fiat in or out.
You should try bitstamp or Coinbase instead.

bitcoin.de and bitstamp.net for me.

No clue why the hell anyone would still use MtGox. Buying BTC = you pay higher prices than anywhere else, selling BTC = you can't get your fiat out of MtGox.

True, but not everyone knows that. When you selling BTC the exchange rate seems sweat there, when you realize your withdrawal is in limbo, its too late...

I've been looking at Campbx (https://campbx.com/main.php).  I like the feel of the site but haven't tried them yet.

I've been using CampBx for several months now and I've been quite pleased with the service. Moving Bitcoins in and setting the trades up has been easy enough. The exchange rates have been a little lower than MtGox, but I look at it as the price to pay to be able to use Dwolla to eventually get the cash into my bank account in the US.
