How about locking-in the value of your crypto portfolio and protect it against drawdowns and volatility. Imagine you can manage your savings in several currencies and chose the most convenient one to you — That’s what a currency basket does. The correlation between the currencies in a basket helps to dampen volatility — a super stable technique.

-Legit- Cryptos I know that work with currency baskets:

The DAI token. It seems very stable vs USD. It is a little like Tether, but on Ethereum. I don't know why and how it keeps a stable value.

I don't know about theses cryptocurrencies but I think you can diversify your investment to reduce the risk like keep 20% in Tether 40% in Bitcoin 30% in Ethereum and 10% at other altcoins.

WHY?Huh

If you want stable then stay with US dollar ($), or Euro, or invest in bonds, or gold.

Why waste your money (paying fees) to buy DAI and TETHER???  I can't believe people actually use these.  Granted there are few instances where it is convenient but not the way it is used right now.  It is CRAZY!

To me, I am in crypto for the gains...if I want to play it "safe" then might as well not be in it.

More info on the DAI token:

This article explain how the system work to maintain the price stable against USD. I think it is an interesting token as there is still a little difference versus USD and you may be able to do some trading when the
crypto market is unstable or falling.
It is a good token if you don't want to take too much risk as the price is not too volatile.

But that's true at all, without any reserve funds to backed the token and tether will be worthless soon. I was just waiting for the result of an audit from the bitfinex team about that.
But what makes the majority of exchange sites are using USDT instead of use dollar pair directly to the altcoin or crypto itself.
I think that there is a relationship with the regulation.

If that basket of currencies does not include fiat then it is not going to protect you from the volatility of the market just look at some of the previous days where the market was red, now if that does include fiat, why do we need to invest in that when I can hold my own fiat and get most major currencies in the world with it, so this does not make sense.

Why critics about tether buddy, I see that this alone stable when the other coins dumped in the market. I see this alone created in the platform Omni. So we may expect the more value future too. If everything happens opposite like last time we will find your expected same thing you expect.

Stablitity looking on crypto currency is not a right decision. We need you too find the more fluctuation the market when you invest on any coins.
