everyone knows what with the new bitcointalk updates we need merits for increase our forum ranks? Do you think is it fair? My opinion is its not fair because how many valuble thing we post no one give merits for us. I accept that bct need a control system because someone post silly posts and increase their forum rank easily. But my opinions bct need a fair and accessible system to increase forum ranks.not an impossible task likes get a merits .what is your opinion

The merit system is fair in quite a great amount of fairness. People here give merits, you only have to write meaningful posts and not spam the shit out of the forum only to get your rank increased together with your post count. With the merits in place you can increase your post count but if they are spam posts they won't get you anywhere so only people who really contribute to the forum with their posts will get merits and upgrade their ranks. This forum is not a gold mine for non English speakers to spam the hell out of it only to get paid from a signature campaign. Signature campaign is a privilege and should be treated like such. Not everyone have a certain privilege in real life and so the merit system is a great invention to stop spam.

I've replied to maybe already more than 5 similar topics as yours. To sum it all up: You want to receive merits? Then post some good stuff. Simple as that. If you're not being given merits then it simply means that your posts aren't good enough.

I personally don't even try super hard with my posts, but I still get merited.

You have made 11 posts, 9 of which are one sentence long. All of them are in broken English, with poor spelling and grammar. Most of the content is "nothing" statements such as "hodl", "to the moon", "btc will rise again", etc.

The merit system is designed to stop people spamming posts like that and still ranking up. It is working as intended.

I think the merit system is fair but I think it is advantageous to those who are part of a group or community here in Bitcointalk.  They could just send each other merits, create their alts and give merits to it to increase the rank.
 
What's unfair is that when the merit system started, the current activity should be taken into consideration.  Those who are close to ranking up should be given more merit than those who recently ranked up and with less activity at the time of the merit system implementation.

I guess its fair in a way that it inhibits rank promotion for people who just  "post"  to threads by spamming and not making any sense at all just for the sake of post count and activity. But I think the credibility of receiving merit and giving it is not perfect for its opinionated or affected by each individual responses which is almost random.

First of all this is not the proper section to post this. You should move this to meta section. Coming to your system the new update was required for the forum and it will remain like this even if it appears harsh to new members.

On the plus side, there are no more account farms, The person making the useless posts has decreased
The negative is, it takes a long time to raise our rank. What else can we do

Is it fair that all a shitposter has to do is make 240/480 of the one liner shitposts above to become a Senior or Hero member? Nope. People are tired of reading the nonsense, no-effort posts. I'd argue now it's actually fair because if you're not willing to put in effort here you're going to get nowhere. Actually contribute something over the many months it takes you to become a Senior/Hero and you should have nothing to worry about.

OP, listen up here and listen real good. Merit system has been one of the best things for this forum and I have been saying this ever since it has been introduced. Stop with the one line shitposts which convey the same message that thousands of people say before you,try adding new things to the discussion. You can spend your time on learning new things about crypto rather than spending on your complaints on how the system is not fair. Give it a shot, you may earn merits.

for me, merit system is fair because somehow the older users made this forum grown very well, and the new comer should respect for them.
but there is something missed i think, because i've seen some members, the seniors, i'm not talking about senior rank, but some of them are senior member too, but what i'm talking about isn't just some senior member rank but the others rank too, who act like a boss here and had bad attitudes, bullying some newbies. i really hate their words. can't we do something to punish them? if we can do something to punish them, it'll be fair, i will feels much better with the merits system then.

Yes, all we do is to follow what has been implemented, law or rule maker created such as this for the good of the forum and the fairness for everyone, I was just hoping if we could generate merit once a month or during every after four ten days, like one or two points for Jr. Member, 😂
I mean atleast we could step on the next rank after a year... If we don't get any merit.

I agree with you, and I also have a suggestion, what if giving a quality post merit is a moderator? So that determines the post is good or not, and worthy given merit or not. it depends on the moderator.

If users have unlimited number of merit to be send, now this could have termed to be useless. The limited number of smerit makes it a fair system. Else same as that people give likes on Facebook and Instagram here too users could have started giving merits. What we have at present is something a perfect go.

It is fair to those who qualified posts and deserve to get merit. But is unfair to wants to rank up right now because their activity is qualified but their are not it's unfair. But we need to follow the new update because it for us also. Merit are made to reduce the shit poster, account buyer and etc. moreover to improve this forum as well.
