I'm a coder myself, but when it comes to building hardware I'm a complete n00b...

I bought this mining rig from a guy. He told me there's still space for a 5th GPU if I wanted.

Can someone take a look at these images and tell me what parts I need to buy (beside the GPU obviously) to make this happen?
Oh, and will the power supply be able to handle an extra card?

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

I asked for this to be moved to alt coins

Okay I can not answer you because the photos are too close  I can not see  the  spacing. looks like there is not a lot of room for a 5th card.

More issues I have no idea of the cards

I see they use 1 jack are they nvidia 1060's

what are they?

is this your psu?

Hey philipma1957,

Thanks for the reply!   Yep, they are 1060s. Another one might fit, it will be tight.

PSU is indeed the one you mentioned.

The 5th card doesnt have to be the same model, right?  As long as its not AMD I guess..

The fifth card does not have to be the same model, or even use the same GPU. You could add an AMD GPU, and it's relatively easy to put together on Windows, but it can be difficult to juggle the drivers on most Linux distros.

The one you can choose will largely be restricted by available power. I think you could get by with another 1060 (count your connectors, too).
Finding a good spot to mount another card is up to you, though.

So aside from the GPU I would need a PCI riser with USB3 connection and some power extension cords?

But how do I mount the card unto the rack?  I can't seem to find the little iron mounting bracelets anywhere...

What bracelets?

The card comes with a metal bracket, which you screw on to the frame. And you have one screw hole left on the right side.

You seem to have a free PCI-E slot on the right, but you need to check if your motherboard enables it when all others are used. If it does then a simple pcie  riser would do. Else you would need a multi-port riser.

it appears he has 4 cards and yet 5 cables are attached to the board 4 blue and one black   so I am confused

I would like better photos of rig to help correctly.

like the back end of the risers

a top looking down shot showing all the rig

Your V850 got a whopping 1000W on its 12v Rail, with that, you can use more than 5 1060s.
You already got a riser for the fifth GPU I suppose and there's an extra space in the side of the case, since there was a hole in the picture.

Simply connect the 5th like how the other 4 are connected, I assume that there was already a PCIe Riser for the 5th card because of the picture you've provided.
And.... this:

Thanks for your thoughtful reply!

I'm a software guy, interfacing with the blockchain on that level; ask me whatever.

Not that into hardware, so I ask a question about it..
