If you are part of a telegram group, you will find this glossary very useful.

BAGS: the coins you are planning to hold long-term

BTFD: "Buy the fucking dip". Good opportunities to buy below value will not last long

DYOR: "Do your own research" If you want to success in investing you should start studying and follow your own path

FIAT: Government issued currency

FUD: "Fear, uncertainty, and doubt" this term outlines initiatives to scare the weak-handed holders into selling their positions

HODL: The misspelled word HOLD was posted first in 2013. The community later on, turned it into a verb

LAMBO: if you can buy a Lamborghini, you are cryto-rich

SHITCOINS: The low-cap coins

SATS: or satoshis, the smaller unit of a bitcoin

WHALE: The ones who manipulate the market, because the have enough coins to provoke big price movements

I am sure this glossary is not complete. Maybe you can add more.

Guys, there is already a more much robust thread about this topic, you'll find it here: Terminology for Beginners

Please add any terms you've suggested that are not on the original list to the thread link listed above.

There's no need for multiple threads talking about bitcoin or cryptocurrency terminology

I was just trying to do the small version for those who are starting in the telegram groups.  Wink

Great idea! Revive the existing Terminology list that provided a lnk for above and add your words to it! It’ll be more helpful for Newbies. And add your newer slang to a classic list. It’s our responsibility to keep the useful old threads going!

Thanks for linking that thread; it's the first time I've seen it.

However, @fognoir has reintroduced us to some more common abbreviations that are currently being used that aren't included in the original post that you've referenced.

@fognoir, great post and great idea! I learned something new from it (BTFD). Just a tip: maybe use each of them in a sentence so it's easier for the newbs to understand?
