During the development of your company, your coin/token is worthless if no one know about it.  One of the marketing strategy is to give away token to attract people.  I participated an airdrops recently at luvdubcoin where all I have to do are a few simple tasks.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

A cryptocurrency airdrops is when a blockchain project distributes free tokens are coins to the crypto community to bring attention to their project. The world about the airdrop and that particular token spreads among the community, raising the awareness, which in turn increase the trading volume of a particular coin when it gets listed on an exchange. These airdrops required you to prove you were the owner of the bitcoin or ethereum at a certain time or snapshot of the blockchain.

Airdrops are free tokens given to the people who registered or joined in the telegram or other social media account of a certain project. This is the easiest way to earn tokens but only a small amount were given.

Airdrops look more like "free lunches" in bounty hunters and many participants, and merchants do so for one purpose: to promote products!
