May be some find the idea crazy but if it will be soon a revolution in computing like quantum computing and in neuroscience in 30 years could be very near.
The NSA supersystem in Utah has reserved for everybody on the Earth 100GB and this without quantum computing.
You need a mind scanner and enough space to upload it and live forever ... if the government doesn't delete you.  Huh Huh Huh
So it will be needed a new blockchain based on Bitcoin(or an enhanced Namecoin with life/ namespace).
For ex Bob pays to reserve a space in the blockchain as life/bob for 50 years then 50 years his mind program will run 50 years after his death.
But his mind remains forever in the blockchain and can be reactivated any time if somebody renews life/bob and reactivates him.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_uploading
The idea is already in the wikipedia. My additional idea is only to upload it in a decentralized blockchain.
What do you mean ? To crazy idea ? Or a chance to live longer ?

What incentive do people have to host this blockchain?

Every 10 minutes would be created a block where the minds can be uploaded. Miners receive coins when they find a block.
The registration/renewal fees for life/ entries + the generated coins will be the incentive.
By the mind upload a certain amount of coins will be destroyed and this will secure the market demand for the mined coins.
By renewal of life/ entries only renewal fee will apply which will go to the miners.
The value for the lifecoins will be traded freely. Ask and demand will decide about the price.
The communication-protocol between the nodes will ensure that each uploaded-mine will have exactly one thread running inside of the network.

are you high? static storage of brains, is like freezing it. you will exist forever, but you will have not thoughts and will therefor not live either.

you need a computer to calculate on the chemical reactions within the brain, not just a still picture of it.

Correct. The brain has a short term memory, which will run on a dynamic memory and will be updated to the blockchain from time to time. (transferred to the long term memory)
Any other technical problems ?

Will it be possible to be uploaded on the blockchain and do silly posts in bitcointalk?

Are you already in?

Yeah, maybe he's posting from the blockchaon and is just giving us a hint? Maybe the program existed really long time, we just haven't noticed? Shocked

this is crazy.
It is not so much difference between genial and crazy.

This is a legitimate question because virtual life will differ from real life.
The scan of the cerebral cortex will be the main part of the uploaded mind. The brain centers for seeing and hearing will not be implemented but there will be standard modules to attach a webcam.
So disabled persons which have motor disabilities or disabilities in their audio-visual input will not be in disadvantage like in real life.
The activation of uploaded persons will need to make a complex check by start to see if they are in the main chain otherwise it will be not possible to avoid duplication.
However it could happen that hackers will crack some older mind backups to run them on their own network and they will work like kind of clones.

You would need multiple brains then.

Forked brains would lack the security and guaranty of the main chain. Virtual minds will have also some needs, to communicate for example, to hear and see the world.
Hacked and forked minds would be kept secretly(without communication with the outside world) in a kind of slavery just for exploiting them.
Their blockchain would be a slavery chain.

Lifecoins will be built on the top of Namecoin so you need the Namecoin client and some coins also.
You could reserve already the namespace entry, the location for your virtual life with the Namecoin client
(ex. life/bob)
for an unbelievable low price of 0.02 NMC.
When the technology will be ready(the mindscanner must be developed first) in 20-30 years then the Namecoin prices will be extremely high so it is better if you buy now a couple of thousand because the mind upload will cost about
100 NMC for the beginning and 10 NMC every year for standard hosting(but in 4 years the prices will be halved).
In the standard hosting the virtual mind capacities will be similar with the real one and for every new information stored something old must be deleted.

So far so good!
I only worry whether mindscanner will keep my brain intact while doing its work
