Confirmed orders are just about a hundred devices. Pending confirmation are another few hundreds (but I'm not going to count those until they become confirmed).
"Promised" with a bunch of "if" and "when", and "I'm interested" and "I will get X many" are over a thousand so far (which I'm not going to count either unless they do become confirmed).

this seems like only a few people have sent in coins.

in contrast the other buy for these sticks uses:

  and that address has more then 60 coins placed into it. The other seller wants .85 a stick so for me to buy 20 sticks it is 17 coins I get them lets say  Oct 2- oct 10th. 

Your sticks are lower cost I like that but they come Oct 30 - NOV 4th

 Frankly as a person still waiting for my bfl orders from Jan of 2013 sending 12 coins to you for 20-30 sticks is kind of hard for me to do.

 I am waiting on knc.            7 coins
 I am waiting for a baby jet.   2 coins
I am waiting  on a metabank. 3 coins

most of the above is group buys from this site.


I am not sure I want to tie up 12 coins for a long time say 42 days. Very frustrating doing business with asic providers.  It is almost always hurry up and wait.

 So as much as I want to pay .4 to .6 a stick I will most  likely pay .85 a stick to the other seller. Not my first choice but it looks safer.  If I order here it will be 2 or 3 sticks tops. I can deal with waiting on a small amount of coins for gear.

Yes, indeed -  we've set up a second distribution and manufacturing point in Europe and are working with Marto74 in that regard. Have I mentioned before that we listen to our customers?

We're still shipping to the entire world (or more precisely wherever USPS does), and for shipping and tax purposes it is sometimes better to ship such products from EU vs US (and vice versa).

That is mostly correct - the highest price that we're looking at (currently) is actually 0.55BTC so that would be eventually 1.5BTC more (plus shipping).

We're running two separate business models and therefore there isn't necessarily a "better" place. There are also several factors which may affect your preference - see below.

Marto74 is taking a bigger risk by ordering a full reel of bitfury chips, and also estimating the demand and thus final price. On the other hand, because of those factors he'll be shipping a few weeks earlier than us.

We on the other hand are trying to get the lowest price by first knowing the demand precisely. That way we won't have to pre-order tons of components which may end up not being necessary. At the end of the day if our price ends up being higher than Marto74's we're going to order our devices via Marto74, and his price will be our price too. I'm pretty much trying to say that no matter where you end up ordering from you will pay no more than Marto74's price (which is around 0.54-0.55BTC based on the current exchange rate).

The other factor that you might want to take into consideration is shipping. In the second email we'll be asking the question "Shipping preference: (From EU), (From US), (no preference)". For some countries it might be better to ship from US and for some from EU. There are also often different customs procedures, duties and taxes/VAT based on the country of origin.

On October 1 we'll be counting PLACED orders. "Promised" will not be considered.

The more chips we get the cheaper they'll be. If we reach 3000 chips we can just buy a whole reel (at $30/chip) which will bring the price down significantly! Currently our biggest expense is the bitfury chips.

Presuming we hit the 3000 mark that would give us chips at 0.2-0.25BTC and the other components with assembly will likely be around 0.15-0.2BTC for a total price of 0.35-0.45BTC (depending also on the $/BTC exchange rate).

The nicer looking boards unfortunately won't make it until some time next week and I'll have just the engineering samples on Friday. I'll be assembling them over the weekend and if they don't look way too ugly I'll add some pictures of the finished devices.

Here is a picture that I took the other day while doing stress-testing with one of the V1 boards:

I know that at first it looks scary but it was actually a successful test. (If you're not interested in the technical details and lingo you can stop reading here )
I was experimenting with extreme values for some of the components and even in that case the communication was still stable and usable at SPI speeds of up to 200-300kHz (and as a reference - for a one-chip design 50-100kHz is more than sufficient). What you see on the oscilloscope is the MISO line after it's been converted from 1.8 to 3.3V and the effects of the capacitance of some of the components. The data was fed back to the USB controller once it was converted down to 1.8V (sort of a loopback - 3.3->1.8->3.3) which also contributes a lot to the image.

Pretty much. All of the important pieces of the design are stable. In the last revision I added also an LED (as people like blinky stuff ) but this it is purely for prettiness - it doesn't affect the core functionality in any way.
