There was soooo many discussions about Donator and VIP ranks. Prices wont be lowered. Why? Because it would be unfair. In past people donated 10 or 50 BTC to get that rank, I don't think it would be nice to get same privilege by donating 0.1 BTC for example.
It's more likely that one day theymos will make new rank rank which you can get by donating smaller amount of BTC to forum.

I'm 99.99% sure this is incorrect. The prices remain this way purposefully. Although you're right, it says contact theymos, I'm sure a contributing factor for them providing a unique donation address is so that it can be a (potentially) publicly accessible record that 10 or 50 BTC were actually donated.

I don't understand what is so funny? It might be "Outdated" in that you feel the price is high or that it was set long ago, but it by no means is not updated. It is what it is; the "Donator" title has become pretty damn prestigious at this point, and could very feasibly be valued at $412,599.75. Rules are rules, no sense in ruining the current titles; I would see it possible that theymos adds another low-tier donation title. I think a lot of people would be happy to donate a more reasonable amount for a lower-class, would probably bring in a lot of revenue for the forum.

Those people that donated 50BTC could've just as easily HODL'd, invested or exchanged their coin for self-gain and instead it was donated to the forum. You would not be cracking up if you were someone that donated this and see people talking of cheapening your title.

IT is outdated. 50 BTC when it first got implemented was probably at max, a few hundred dollars.

Obviously, this has nothing to do with theymos' greed or whatever. If he really wanted to make money off the forum, don't you think that offering a donator membership for a few hundred thousand dollars is a bit dumb? It's probably way easier to limit access to forum content until you pay a membership fee, which is mandatory for every single person using this forum.

Perhaps this figure should be updated to reflect the current bitcoin prices and to make it more accessible, but I don't see it necessary at the moment. If something needs donations to be funded then surely the admins will come up with something.

That is if you want either the VIP or Donator title. You can donate any amount to the forum's address, but if you want one of those you need to contact theymos. The price is firm.

life is like that-the ones who were the pioneers,the first ones always have privileges
I think it is right,would be very unfair on those donators who have been supporting the forum in the early days to cut the price of the badge
they donated 50 coins when it mattered the most for the forum to get established and develop and become what it is now
same (in a way) goes with the merit system-legendary status was easier to achieve
so now if you want same privileges or rank you have to invest more resources- be it money or time to provide quality (or popular) content
