First off: Hi, I'm Slaigh.  Tongue

Second off: I dove headfirst into a mining pool... and smashed my face on bottom.

The Scenario:
I have done various types of distributed computing for a while now, and decided that -besides the obvious differences- Bitcoin mining wasn't too terribly different from folding/crawling/etc. I did a little research and learned what Bitcoins were, how they were used, how they were mined, and how pools worked together to mine more efficiently. After all that I figured I'd give mining a shot. So first I downloaded Bitcoin Qt and got myself an encrypted wallet. Second, I installed the latest version of the GUIMiner program. Third, I decided to join up with Slush's Pool; it seemed big enough to have credibility and speed, but small enough to get a decent fraction of Bitcoins per block. Lastly, I connected my GUIMiner worker to my Slush's Pool account, and connected my Slush's Pool account to my Bitcoin Wallet, and have since been happily crawling along at a consistent ~48.5 MHash/S. (I know it's abysmally slow, I have a GTX 550Ti, but I don't have to pay electricity or internet, so it's abysmally slow free money)

The Problem:
I have been mining for several hours, and my GUIMiner worker says it has accepted 227(49) shares with 1(1) stale, yet my Slush's Pool stats all stay 0. When I check the logs, there's clearly a reason why; this error appears continuously:

What this error means though, is beyond me.

Any help is appreciated, and I really think this question belongs in the Slush's Pool Thread, or at least mining support,  but alas my I'm doomed to Newbie Hell and can't do anything about it.
(I guess if I wanted I could waste a mod's time begging for a whitelist Roll Eyes )

That looks like it's still pointing at the old getwork.  Instead of choosing slush in the drop down choose other and use:

use : stratum.bitcoin.cz

and port : 3333

Make sure your user/pass match what you have created for the worker as well from the bitcoin.cz website.

Well, after much experimentation, I decided to just set up a new worker, which gave the same error. I checked waay too many times for it to have just been a user/pass issue. Anyway, after creating the new worker, changing the host and port to what you said worked!
I don't know why the first worker didn't work with the changes, but the new one does, and I just got my first stat on Slush's pool, so that's all that matters.

Thanks a ton for the help!  Grin
