With Chinese New Year coming up on 2/16 what do you think will happen will the market cap get an influx of new money from China or not? I'm thinking we will and hoping it will boost prices for all coins but of course, this is just speculation, what do you think?

People argue this one both ways.   There's so much money flowing around during the Chinese New Year, and it's not a clear cut black and white flow either way.

The Chinese New Year will bring a boost to the market, after all China is a big Crypto Market and especially on Chinese New Year
there a lot of money changing hands.

I agree you two, let's send positive vibes into the cryptoverse and believe it will boost the cryptoeconomy! Being they are one of the biggest, if not the biggest players in Crypto, there is def. some kind of serious price action that will take place whether up or down who knows, but I believe the bulls will come out to play on a new year high of adrenaline/dopamine.

I do not think so, or the other way around will happen. For example there is a possibility of dump since most Chinese will sell their btc for fiat for Chinese. though we did not know how the market will react, this is just my opinion. Let us be vigilant always.

No one knows what will happen after Chinese New Year. Maybe the Chinese will put their money back into bitcoin. But we're just guessing, and we need to remain vigilant.

i guess this wont affect the market that much, bitcoin is better to be hold and not to dispense Chinese literally known as bitcoin creating country and they know the value of it.so theres no need to withdraw unless they badly needed or emergency situations.and besides this coin is slowly recovering now and for sure just a little time of waiting success is ours bitcoin holders

maybe, because a lot of money may come in after the new year thing and more importantly a lot of money that has been speculating the rise after the new year thing will come in which had nothing to do with it and were just speculating.

but the thing that will really increase the total market capitalization is creation of lots and lots of new shitcoins. after all Market Cap is the sum of all these shitcoins and is calculated by multiplying supply and price of all these shitcoins. for example each time they fork bitcoin and create some altcoin called bitcoin_something they add at least $17 million to total market cap because they are worth at least $1-$2 and the supply is nearly 17 million.

It wont have a big impact china has already banned all the local exchanges and that is more than enough for people to be scared and not re invest again there are some people who still use international exchanges but they dont have any major impact on the price

What is it with the Chinese New Year and Bitcoin's recovery? Why do some spammers, I mean, people believe the Chinese will suddenly pour all their money in Bitcoin on that day?

It does not make sense. Please explain what the Chinese culture is regarding investments and speculation when their "new year" comes.

In traditional economy chinese markets are not working during the new year holidays so no one expecting any serious market movements during this time. I don't think that crypto markets will be mich different from that, most traders and crypto investors will probably take a break to spend some time with their families. If we talking about chinease cryptomarket then we are more likely to see a small pricce increase after the New Year when people come back to trading.

It does not make sense. Please explain what the Chinese culture is regarding investments and speculation when their "new year" comes.

why does price go down when some FUD says China banned bitcoin?

the New Year is the same thing but in both ways. before it, people say a lot of Asian countries that celebrate the New Lunar Year will sell their bitcoins to pay for their travels,... and it is a big thing in Asia. so they speculate price drop. that much is enough for the price to drop even if not a single Asian sells their coins!
then after it is over they speculate the money will come back, again that much is enough for the money to  come back even if not a single Asian buys back bitcoin.

I even predict that the price of Bitcoin may decrease. We know that sometimes on Chinese New Year will be many needs so that there will be a flow of money withdrawal by selling Bitcoin owned. Theoretically, when demand decreases, Bitcoin's price will decrease and as demand increases Bitcoin price will increase. So try not to do too much sell because it will have a negative impact on price movements Bitcoin.

All the new year of an country mean new beginning and it could be a new beginning for the Chinese citizens and we can see again a new buying in the market. Thus if this starts to happen we will see huge recovery of the prices and btc will move above 10 k in such situation.

I don't think so because for me bitcoin price will go down not going up since it's holiday some investors sell their bitcoin into cash to buy stuff or maybe for some reason, so my predictable in bitcoin is lower than usual.

Chinese New Year is a tradition to celebrate with luck beliefs and bitcoin is not one of them and we know that China is trying to ban it completely so this will not affect its price at all.

Historically January has been a month of declining prices only to recover and grow again after Chinese New Year.

I expect the same to happen this time, especially with some of the recent good news like the positive notes on crypto in the US.

After Chinese cashed out from the crypto market for the celebration of their new year, I think that we'll see a boost once it was done. We all know on how they are good on making money so every single day is counting and time is very much important to them. As long as they know that something is well profitable they will no waste any single chance to get in with it. There's too much argument with this day and with them too but I also think that it will give us a nice price.

Yep. The reason why I think that prices are most likely to go up after Chinese new year is that people have needs before Chinese new year to buy gifts and all, and it is much more likely for them to cash out. While that may not be a factor in itself, but if others know this pattern from happening, they're more likely to follow it.

So February, we're already seeing a gradual increase in average prices and I think we'll just see this accelerate after we break $10k.

Whether the Chinese New year events are a factor, we can't really tell. Could just be the natural cycle of BTC. Also you can't really predict the policies that governments put in place, that's just not up to us to decide. But I think we've already seen the worst of the worst bans come out already.
