Since IOTA already has a lot of development and partnerships behind it, to rival it, the new "cryptocurrency" must be considerably better in some way, which I doubt it is.
I'd say Byteball, which is also based on DAG, is better suited for use by people, so it might excell in this type of usage, but I doubt there's something better than IOTA for IoT.

Seems to me xrb would be a decent contender, but afaik there are no smart contracts on their chain. However, no matter how many viable alternatives there are to one of the popular coins, there's always the first mover advantage. Until it isn't, but it mostly is. We have the example of NEO, which, imo, is a much better platform than eth. Eth, however, has the ethereum alliance behind it. Always getting partnerships left and right. Already involved in the development of the whole ecosystem.

China is a force to be reckoned with. They are heavily involved in crypto and they are also very smart. They have the potential to be a rival. However, they have quite a road ahead of them to catch up to the point where IOTA already is. I think of them like NEO to Ethereum (Neo has quite a lot going for them so I know it isnt the same). I just mean both are behind their American counterparts but both have great potential to reach the level of their competitors.

1. Doesn't have a functioning wallet
2. Is centralised**
3. MIT studies show IOTA is actually trash

**= They promise it will be decentralised but with all the funds being held hostage by them at will I find it hard to believe they really know what they're doing, also I wouldn't invest in something where the devs can take my coins hostage at will. I don't think IOTA is a very rational investment choice in all honesty. And I keep hearing people who hold this coin say how great it is, well what exactly makes it great?

Is it the working tech?
Is it the centralisation?
Is it that the devs take funds hostage?
Or is it the false partnerships announced by the devs which they later claim to have never mentioned?

Also I think people are forgetting that there's competition in this industry. Its like people here assume A COMPANY will take a monopoly, which will never be the case.

I'm going to pick this one, If Dev are doing good as well mark my word IOT will be in top 20 soon. If they are doing their job very well the price will spike up! i hope this is better than XRB also.

IoT can be a rival IOTA, but it will not beat IOTA, not an easy thing for IoT and takes a lot of time and something more than IOTA. If we see the price, obviously IOTA lose, but if you see the market cap, then IoT far behind from IOTA.

This is so good for long-time period. There's no one who don't like ino from all the news i've read. A year above will reach $15-$23 (prediction) and will not break down.

Try to read this news. https://walletinvestor.com/forecast/iot-chain-prediction

In my opinion, IOTA has been successful enough, so it is difficult to have tokens to surpass it.
And as you said, this token is from China, and I have a very cautious attitude towards the Chinese token.

I think IoT Chain is a great contender. There are lots of problems with IOTA (centralized architecture, security, supply. etc). I see ITC as the up and coming since they use DAG tech. Very impressive read I found where they compare the two: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/a-beginners-guide-to-iot-chain-the-iota-of-china_us_5a4a4edee4b06cd2bd03e183

dude iota sucks. I never got into them based on their metrics and such. great industry to get into since there's a huge influx of IoT devices. looks like ITC has my vote.

IOTA is a really slow project with nothing real application for months. I don't know why people keep investing to it ?

I see Chinese IOTA and Korean IOTA every day, just as I often see ETH of China and ETH of Korea, people always like to compare with the best representatives in the industry to get people's attention.
But , it is just advertising, they eventually can not become China's IOTA.

I,m tempted to say that China always comes out with carbon copies. Why can't they come out with a novel idea? We're still waiting to see how the NEO plays out and here's another one.
Pls, even if it's just once, THINK!

So, what's different with those are comparing ethereum with neo as the chinese ethereum? But the fact that neo is not a rival of ethereum itself. It looks good but remembers IOTA has so many bug. And IOTA is not the only one DAG system coin. Byteball which more mature than IOTA and Raiblock as the alternative DAG coin for IOTA. I think that it will be so difficult for IoT chain.

I found this comparison really helpful for iota vs ITC. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/a-beginners-guide-to-iot-chain-the-iota-of-china_us_5a4a4edee4b06cd2bd03e183

The barrier for IOTA is how unsecure it is and that's why I got into ITC. Security for IoT is so important.

itc has a huge chance in beating iota in terms of supply and tech. looks like itc's tech is a hybrid of DAG+PBFT, making scale easier. already own some but I would buy more if I could

THIS^ when I looked into ITC, it looks like they solve those problems like centralized architecture and security which is great in my books. thanks for sharing. looks like ITC is the best option
