I want to start a rig like DennisD7. For those who don't  know, a motherboard (mini-ITX). I was wondering, exactly how much role does this play in mining? I found a Dell  optiplex GX270 on ebay that uses a P4 processor for alot cheaper than what the Dennisd7 rig would cost me.

Older P4 rigs typically draw significantly more power than newer rigs.  An old P4 will often idle at 60-80 watts.  A raspberry pi idles at 3.  An i3 idles at 20.

Everyone here talks about ROI.  Return On Investment.  How long will it take to pay for a lower power rig with the reduced electricity bill.  If that number is bigger than your attention span, then buy the power hog.
