So we are all expecting sooner or later Ethereum to be shifted from PoW coin to PoS. What are your thoughts on this? Is the mining finally over? After the Casper update, I guess that video cards will get a bit cheaper from their overvalued current price as mining Ethereum will become redundant. Hopefully, this is for good.

I think were still a ways out? the first phase only converts 1 in 50 to POS and isnt that atleast a year away?

As for GPU pricing, assuming overall profitability drops drastically (though it would have to drop, and stick to about half the current price) then there would be an influx of Cheap Used GPUS possibly even dropping below MSRP. (Though its unlikely to drop more than ~30% below MSRP because miners will just hold their cards 'incase things improve'

Hold or buy ETH right now cause holding will be the new mining and you will not need to buy any gpu and your earnings will be as good as if you were mining.

i guess it works both ways, of course, changing ethereum to Pos system will affect its mining which will have a small impact on gpu prices and demand by the miners  but don't forget also that there is a whole alot of other coins that can be mined with a gpu

All the "other" coins that will still be mine able are shit coins. So if you dont mind dealing in shit coins / pump and dump frauds then yes GPU still have a future. If you dont want to lend your resources to  these coins then get all the Eth that you can right now.

Yes all other coins are not worth the electricity spent.

Pay attention all of you trolls, once eth is done, mining profits will crash so hard, what is keeping other coins profitable right now is not the coin per se is eth and only eth.

Unless a g3 coin comes round and makes the whole thing profitable again, i see no future for gpu mining after eth goes pos.

It'as become increasingly harder to mine effectively on a GPU, and devs keep searching for different ways to replace hardware mining with different ways to validate transactions. Still I would have liked to see a smoother transition, first ETH becoming a hybrid POW/POS, and then POS. But i'm not a technical guy so this approach may be completely unnecessary and more of a drag.
Anyway since the ETH Ice Age, it was only a matter of time until switching to POS. Still I'm not even close to the 100 ETH limit, so no more producing ETH for me which makes me a bit sad, but there are other coins i can switch to, for now.
