The server is not accessible, I don't know why and have been unable to get in contact with the hosting provider.

I will keep you updated as things progress.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Hey, still getting the same error?

The web client is back up and running.

Also, if you're on Ubuntu 11.04 and using the command line client it won't work, there is a bug in libcurl that sets the ssl timeout to too short a value.

Can't tell if serious.

Means the owner decided to be their own certificate authority, instead of using a public one.  You are still connecting with 128bit encryption, but you have to trust the owner, because they can easily crack the encryption.

Us nerds know this and will prob take the chance, but such a thing will not fly with noobs.  You should always spend the money and use a professional certificate authority.
