Yes, this is very well known problem that appeared as other cryptocurrenies appeared with the same mining algorithm, it is not specific to Bitcoin Cash.
The point is that if a coin uses the same mining algorithm as a significantly bigger coin, then miners will be able to use same hardware to take control of the smaller coin.

There are similar issues with other mining algorithms like scrypt, where you have many coins using the same algorithm.
This is the core of the issue in my opinion. Coins should really try their best to use a different algorithm.
