Could you please anyone explain the difference between ERC20 based coins and NEP5 based coins. And what is better considering future growth of crypto-currencies?

The different is simpe ERC20 is Ethereum based token and NEP5 is NEO based token, any token to run on the NEO blockchain, it would have to follow the NEP5 standard. and i cant say which one is better cause i use both of them, prefer ethereum though.

ERC20 is the contract running in the etherum while the NEP5 is built in the NEO. Its hard to say which platform is good. For I know, the transaction of the NEP5 is free while the ERC20 requires the gas.

There are different exchanges available in the crypto market. ERC20 is Ethereum base token will trade, whereas NEP5 is NEO base token will trade.

We are just starting on block chain technology and ERC 20 is a good start. it is fast and cheap. on NEP5 i think you need a huge amount of gas before you can create a smart contract to them.

I am interested aswell in the differences in regards to the blockchain for the Ethereum network in comparison to Neo.
Which is superior to the other and why?

Both ETH and NEO are important in this cryptomarket, and for blockchain technology. People are familiar with ETH because ETH is the first platform in this market. They can create ERC20 token so easy that there are too many startup on this market and 90% are scam. We shouldn't let this happen. I know most startup will fail but they worked hard and failed. Not open an ICO and sitting there watching the money flow into their account. I really do not understand why we always have to compare ETH and NEO...they will most likely co-exist in the long-run and both be successful. Competition is what drives innovation and continuous progress. They are both very strong projects and ETH is still miles ahead when it comes to adoption (Disclaimer: I am only invested in NEO), but I believe NEO will slowly close the gap. It is not either-or, it is both-and.

NEP5 for NEO platform is the same assets like an ERC20 on Ethereum blockchain. And I think in near future we will see many ICO , based on NEO blockchain.

difference is the blockchains they are using. Ethereum is old and experienced boy, neo is a new born baby. Neo has a bigger potential to grow

NEP5 (NEO Enhancement Proposals) : a coin/token that's created basically on the NEO network , and doesn't own its special blockchain & whome smart contracts are NEP-5 compliant . Credit : redditERC20 : (Ethereum Request for Comments) & 20 is the proposal ID number , piggyback on the Ethereum network. Credit : Exodus

ERC20 is ETH based and NEP5 is NEO based, I personally prefer ERC20.

ERC20 is on Ethereum blockchain and NEP5 is on NEO blockchain. Thats all. Also i love to use NEP5 tokens its really fast and cheap to transfer.

I'm not familiar with neo tokens. Now that you said that it's really fast and cheap to transfer, I might look into it. But, is it user-friendly? I mean for a beginner in NEO blockchain, is it easy to understand the trading of this token? Just like using etherdelta for the first time.

Does it really matter? As long as the code is well written and free of flaws, it works, no industry standard is set yet.

ERC20 token is those token that are ETHEREUM base while NEP5 are NEO based token, as of now many ICO are shifting to NEO base as it is better now and not having any issue. Eth had a problem before with the transaction and transfer which made a big impact to their reputation.

Point1: the first Chinese blockchain project. Point2: NEO nodes use Byzantine Fault Tolerance Algorithm (dBFT) to reach consensus and ensure the finality of transactions. It also ensures that the system keeps its finality and availability as long as Byzantine fault occurs on less than 1/3 of the nodes. With the use of dBFT protocol, NEO practical transaction speed is 1,000 TPS and theoretically can reach 10,000 TPS in future. Point3: NEO nodes use Byzantine Fault Tolerance Algorithm (dBFT) to reach consensus and ensure the finality of transactions. Point4: NEO practical transaction speed is 1,000 TPS and theoretically can reach 10,000 TPS in future. Etherium in 2016 had a speed of 20 transactions per second. Visa – 1,667 transactions per second. Feel the difference. =) Point5: As of the middle of October 2017, the NEO crypto currency costs $29.07. Now 1NEO=113.9$. The conclusion is obvious, NEO is much more interesting than Etherium.

Perhaps the future for NEP5, but recently many NEO have been stolen and give reason to think about how best to proceed.

I am really interesting in NEP5 technology than ERC20 now. Although NEP5 is rather new comparing to ERC20, NEP5 will also ricing up in crypto world as ERC20. I'm a Big fan of NEP5 and hope it will do great job as doing ERC20.

Tokens on the ERC20 are very common due to the fact that they appeared first, but NEP5 also has a good perspective. I think between coins in the near future will be a good fight for first place.

Its difference blockchain platform. But ERC20 was the most widely adopted for the ICO project. Never heard about ICO which using NEP5 for their platform. Or maybe it's just me that doesn't updated about any NEO project.
