Author Topic: Electrum wallet stay on "synchronizing" last few days  (Read 266 times)

Hi ,

I will be very thankful if you help me!
Last few days my electrum wallet keeps on "synchronizing" and nothing change. I did some Google research and follow the tips there, but didn't help at all. I un-tick the auto-connect box, changed the servers manually... allo the electrum application in firewall... nothing. The status is still "synchronizing" with blue arrows in the right corner.
My last received transaction there is 0. I've checked it in blockchain and the status of the last transaction is "received". But in my balance is 0. I guess, because my wallet isn't connected.

You are correct that it is a connection issue and trying different servers and your firewall settings were the correct way to try to start fixing the problem.

Can you open a command prompt and see if you can ping the server you trying to connect to?

This appears to be a known bug as discussed in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2829027.0

It should be fixed in the latest 3.0.6 version of Electrum.

TheQuin, I am not so good with that and don't know how to open that command and don't know how to do ping.
codewench, my wallet is version 2.6.4 . How to upgrade the version? Should I download the new one and delete the old one? I am worried, because I got money in my wallet.

Just download and install. It will automatically upgrade and you will not lose any settings. You should do this anyway as there is a vulnerability in versions 2.6 to 3.04. Use https://electrum.org/#download as there are many phishing sites.

There is many fake sites who pretend to be real and legitimate Electrum site,so be careful and download only from https://electrum.org/#home . When you search for "Electrum" you may see paying add at the top of the search results,it is fake and it should be avoided at all costs.

Before upgrade be sure to have your seed safe, and that it is 100% accurate,only in case something goes wrong.

Sorry for asking so much maybe stupid for you questions, but if I understand correct I should just download the last version, install it and the wallet will be updated automatic. Am I correct? And will have there the entire history and the money also, right?

Yes.

As @Lucius just pointed out you should always have a copy of your seed phrase in case of emergency. I have upgraded many times and never needed to use it but it is a sensible precaution to take.

Don't worry about a desktop icon. What version number is displayed at the top left of the windows? Is it now connected to the network or does it still say synchronising?

3.0.6 is the version. The wallet is connected now ( I got a green in the right corner). All the history displayed correctly. Just the last transaction is with status verified, but the amount is +0. and there is no amount received. It's like I didn't receive that amount. OK, what is the transaction id? (Right click the tx and 'details')

Then click the green circle and tell me what number Blockchain: says for blocks.

That all looks good. The tx is confirmed although it does have 197 outputs so I don't know which one is yours or how much it is. There was a bug I think in one of the 2.8 versions that caused some transactions to be displayed with 0 value but that was fixed so I don't know what is going on here. Don't panic about it as the tx is confirmed on the blockchain the funds are safe.

I would suggest making a screenshot to show the problem and then alert the Electrum developers to the issue.

To be honest that isn't something I have ever needed to do. According to the website bug reports are through Github https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum

As ThomasV is active on the forum you could try posting the screenshot I mentioned to demonstrate the problem and he might well comment.

It is a known problem which some users have recently,but the problem was to be solved with version 3.0.6.You can try to select different servers when you click on green dot-uncheck automatic selection and try to pick any other server from the list then wait to see if your transaction is show correct balance.

If this not help there is a possibility that some file in Electrum folder is corrupted,so you should try to delete blockchain_headers file in Electrum folder.It is located on  C: \Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets (or %APPDATA%\Electrum\wallets) but to see appdata you need to click on File - View - Folder Option - Show Hidden Files(in Windows)

If you delete that file(only that file) your wallet will need to sync again(download that file) so give it some time for that.

Last option is clean install of Electrum(uninstall/delete all files)and then restore from seed.If you do that be sure you have 100% correct seed.
