Well they kinda dismissed the ban for the wrong reason lol:
‘Many of you posted questions about whether the ECB is going to ban Bitcoins or it’s going to regulate Bitcoins,” Draghi said. ‘I have to say it’s not the ECB’s responsibility to do that.’
They're basically saying it's not their job, so some other entity could pick up their slack. I don't really believe that Europe as a whole will ban crypto, but it doesn't look like it's completely off the table. Still, this is good because it alleviates fears for the upcoming G20 meeting which seems to have a lot of people on edge.
The ECB does not have the right or the power to ban anything. They can't ban bitcoin , this has do be done by every parliament of the countries in the EU.
For example, in my case even the Central Bank does not have the power on banning something, they can only suggest this to the fiscal council which can....oh my god it's such a long process it will probably take a decade.
I think that the EBA might have a bigger say in this matter.
What is happening in March?
From the link:
The world’s largest central bank chiefs are expected to discuss the matter at a G20 meeting in Buenos Aires in March.
Just saying....nothing will really happen.
They do not vote on things, there is no resolution coming from a G20 meeting.
And with the current members opposing on a lot more important things than
BTC , like environment, Crimea, Middle East crisis...I doubt they will bother with
BTC
