I am fairly new to the whole mining thing,  just recently got a system capable of mining some of the scypt coins. Started first trying to mine litecoins, but got frustrated that by the time I had mined enough to get a payout, the value of litecoin's had dropped vs BTC. After that I tried mining on Middlecoin, but wasn't quite satisfied that I was being properly compensated for my ~400 KH/s rig.  Now I am giving [Suspicious link removed] a try, seems pretty good so far, like the Vardiff support, much more confident in having my contributions properly accounted for.

I'm hoping in the near future that I can throw another couple cards in my mining system so I can make a bit more per day, but factoring that I leave my computer running anyways, my card draws 112W at peak usage, should cost me roughly $8 for electricity, and generate me around $27, overall profit of $19/month.

Hello and welcome!
Personally i wouldnt bother, I gave up trying a month ago when difficulty and electricity costs increased so i wasnt making any profits, only the illusion that I was when in fact electricity was eating away at my income :/

But the comp will take another 100W you have to add. Watch the wallet wattage with watt-metter

In the short-term, this may be correct, but if you're going to buy extra hardware: how long will it take to get to break even?  Also consider that the difficulty isn't fixed, even for LTC, and it's just possible that dedicated hardware *will* come along before you manage to make a return!

It's a fun hobby, though   Smiley

Hi, and i dont really recomend you to mine, mining is not profitable these days if you have bad hardware instead of mining you should buy bitcoins and wait until it gets more expensive.

I realize I am kinda late to the game ... but doesn't mean I can't still get some returns, I've actually moved away from mining LTC and am instead mining on hashcows, a pool similar to middlecoin, but with vardiff, and option to keep individual coins mined or auto exchange on a coin by coin basis. It's fairly new but getting better all the time. Seem to be making better returns there than I was just mining LTC.

As for adding in the cost to run my comp,  I was running it 24/7 anyways before I started mining, so to me that cost of power would be spent anyways.

There should be a sticky topic to explain that it is too late for people who wants to mine with crap components, and be rich within a month....

Assuming you pay for electricity, you won't be earning with any of those devices.  Despite what you may thing, Bitcoin isn't a way to get rich quick.

I know its not a get rich fast thing. I just want to figure out a way to earn coins so that i can use them to buy the equipment i need to have better hashrates. so with a Block Erupter USB do i plug that into my USB port and the programs detect it automatically? if not how does that work?

BEs won't get you anywhere unless you just want to mine for fun.  There IS a new hardware out, Bitfury USBs that mine at 2.5+GH/s, but they are costly.  Those block Erupter blocks are called ASIC mining Blades.

I'd suggest you buy some BTC and do some investments or something.  Play around with them.  You can't get rich quick.
