Same can be said of people wearing $100k earnings or other jewelry. At the club you want people to know how rich you are. Any amount of risk is worth picking up hot chicks. I'd feel a lot safer with a $200 necklace showing that I have 100k bitcoins than a $100k diamond chain around my neck. What do you think is riskier? I'm not suggesting everyone do this, but it's a great way to be a baller without having to hire extra security.
Wow! I had no idea that such attitudes existed outside of the fantasy world of TV and movies.
I'll admit to being shallow, I have no problems with that. I can pick up chicks with my good looks, gamerscore, and breakdancing skills, but many people pay money to look good. Why does a handbag cost $50,000? Why do some cars cost 10k while other a mil? People buy expensive stuff to impress people. I don't want to get into the moral aspects of this, but people buy stuff to show that they're richer than the next guy.
This is a great way to show that you're richer than the next guy, but you don't actually have to buy anything and it's not physically on you. I guess bank of america could also come up with a necklace too. It would just be a lot cooler if it were bitcoins. Also you would have to make it so you couldn't copy the necklace and you couldn't put a fake number up, but that's a given. All that stuff can be worked out.
