BITCOIN has skyrocketed past the $10,000 (£7,087) mark this week as strategist Thomas Lee predicted a new “record peak” for the cryptocurrency to come in July following a period of plummeting markets.

To be honest I'm quite tired of these speculation articles and comments. I wish people could start talking about bitcoin development and it's roadmap, and what innovations we could expect for this year. We could also see people talking about the potential changes bitcoin could introduce in finance and commerce, but usually, all we see are these so called strategists talking about bitcoin price.

Not against talking about price, since I actually like to trade the coin, but it would be nice to see people talking about bitcoin itself, or at least try to justify their price predictions based on bitcoin fundamentals (either development, adoption or regulation). We don't want more hype, and people buying or selling crypto based on fomo or fud. Bitcoin will never be taken seriously if people keep focusing the attention on bitcoin price.

I get you, but the far majority of the people don't care about Bitcoin's technical aspects and developments, and if they happen do at least somewhat care, it's again related to the price because it might help push the market further. We just have to accept that the volatility and the massive upwards price potential is what makes the far majority of the people interested. At the end of the day, Bitcoin offers all people what they want. If you care about its decentralization aspect, and that you don't rely a third party in between, then that's great. If you just want to invest in Bitcoin without caring about its technological aspects, then that's fine too. If you just want to use it as temporary store of value, then great! People are free to do and like what they want. Banks and governments dictate people's lives already, here they at least have the chance to choose.

This is good news. But with bitcoin for many years I am not worried about its price at all, just think what is the price this time last year, we had about 10x increase in a year, despite the recent setback. You can't expect any better than this.

he makes predictions right and in the past times he justified because reasons prices would increase and because reasons prices would fall, I do not see the previsions as something guaranteed, but this guy lee has made good predictions, the guy is amazing and if he can do good forecasts, no exaggeration and many people get in touch with bitcoin because of his predictions, it's okay with me.

Bitcoin will go higher as it always did, with more and more adoptions the bitcoin will be as popular as visa and mastercard.

This isn't  a surprise it is expected to rise as the Chinese ended there holidays , most users of bitcoin are Asian countries such as China and the possibility of achieving a new higher record is feasible in 2018. although it has to overcome some battles with government regulations in some countries.

A lot of people have been expecting that Bitcoin will steadily rise following its big dip (reaching $6,000) as if that can be its rock bottom and there is no choice but to elevate itself. Things are now getting stable for Bitcoin and the FUDs and fake news are slowly being cleared especially on those coming from South Korea which is one of the biggest cryptocurrency market country. I would be happy if soon Bitcoin can reached back the $15,000 level and hope that not an avalanche of profit-taking would ensue at that level so it can continue on rising until the $20,000.

Sadly true as the price fluctuates significantly these days and most people see it as the way to earn money faster through trading bitcoin, hence the price is the hottest topic to discuss. Holding isn't really profitable if compared to traders that can earn profits + buyback in every dip such as happened before, we could easily sold at $19,000 and buyback at $8000, more than $10,000 profit for everyone who trades BTC1 and so on.
Bitcoin development and technical aspects will bring another topic of price speculation, but this is what we have been waiting to be implemented as bitcoin can't be used as an alternative currency if the scale problem remains unsolved.

It's quite funny how these articles are clickbaits that try to make the news look exciting while in reality they're not. This one is a great example with sentences like: "BITCOIN has skyrocketed past the $10,000" There was no skyrocketing because it wasn't a huge and sudden jump. It also wasn't a new high. We are not in some uncharted waters, we've been here on February 1. That's 2.5 weeks ago! And at that time people were crying that the price is crashing and that it's the end of BTC. Now we're back at the same price and it's suddenly a new moon. LOL

There are too many factors to take into consideration for people to make predictions like this. If you simply want to guess,

based on last years performance, then you might be disappointed, because Bitcoin is very unpredictable and does not follow

a specific pattern. These strategists are mostly full of shit and you never hear from them if their predictions fail. If you hear

from them, they will offer up some excuses to save some face.
