Hi All.  I am wondering if anyone seen this problem before.  I have antminer S9 who was working properly and all of his cards were appearing in the Status Tab.  The temperatures were high so I turn it off for a short period of time, and when I turned it on none of the Asic Chips would show in Status, I tried Hard Reset, Changing the Pools, and nothing was a success.  I noticed that when I turn on the Miner the Red Leds which usually appears on the 3 Asic Cards are no longer turning ON.  They are off at all time.  I am able to access the miner, and I can Ping from the Miner but none of the Card would come up and it will stay like this forever.  I tried one firmware upgrade but that did not change anything.   I am wondering if my miner and its 3 asics cards are completely dead?  I hope someone can help.

Here is a video that demonstrates the issue

here is the kernel log (not sure if it means anything)

I only see one fan showing up on that list.  Check and make sure both are working:  Unplug one and see if the other spins up.  Then switch and check.  You can not just look because the air moved by one would cause the blades on the other to spin.

Mined for a living since 2017.  Dabbled for years before that.

Chain[7] ASIC[14] has core num=1
That Is the error of interest to me because ALOT or the dead boards I'm getting have these errors.

Based on the kernel log, it seems like a cooling fan issue or Bmminer issue.

Make sure your both front and rear cooling fans are working ok, and if it starts to look like a Bmminer issue, please install a new firmware by using the upgrade function in the miner web configuration page.

You can edit part of the your topic with this. http://prntscr.com/ifpjn5, and just paste your code between brackets. And for the fans, you can try to remove them both, and connect them to motherboard, one by one, and look are they spinning, much easier then messing with whole miner.

Id almost bet you have the 1117 firmware that is a total pile of crap. Roll it back to an older auto-tune and you should be good.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

It is Nov17 firmware as it's shown in the log. I actually prefer this firmware over the prior versions.

The log stops at the fan check sequence. Go to the bottom of the log file to see this. Only Fan5 reported so you should check Fan2.

Heads up, fans are numbered 0 based in the log but 1 based on the Miner Status page. And anybody's guess how they are numbered on the controller.

Hi, equal problem in my S9 new hardware.(MARCH 2018 bach)
Today are aribed and after 30 minutes working weel at 13.5THs, i rebooted and don't work anymore.
3 harsh boards are red led off, some times, reboting the middel board leds are stand red.
I have a 2 BITMAIN 1600W PSU equalt results with 2 power supply.
Sistem don't run bmminer binary and no has rate.
Fans runs at full speed after some seconds of boot and don't decrease speed.

@andygi
It seems like there is some issue with the PIC Firmware in the hash board (chain 5).
Can you unplug both data and power from that hash board?
It should be connected to the controller data port J5.

You could that way find out if the machine is able to operate when that hash board in unplugged.

If you end up finding that the hash board has this issue, you need a warranty repair.

Bitmain service guide: https://shop.bitmain.com/workOrderGuide.htm

EDIT:
You can see this picture as help to identify which has board is connected to J5.
I have marked each connector name location with blue marking.

I think it’s the control board. Remove the data and power connection for chain 5 and switch on the miner. It should work. If it is the case, replace the control board with new one. I hope this helps.

Yeah, I'm guessing either the control board or the hash board connected to J5 is faulty.

Can you please connect a fully working hash board to the controller port J5?

If it is working ok, then I would say that the control board is ok.
And that there is one faulty hash board.

Well, I conneted a faultiboard to J6 connector and error apears now in [Chain6]. Hasboard is the problem so.

Ok. If you can get a good hash board work when connected to the controller port J5,
then you can be pretty much 100% that it is the bad hash board that is faulty.

So it is time to go through those Bitmain warranty repair instructions I posted earlier (see above).
