Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

If only you could award merits for using the search function and not repeating the same questions over and over.

but if the person is only looking for a lot of merit, he will not easily give the merit even though the post is qualified, it would be more profitable for him if giving each other merit to the person who would give merit to him although the posts are not made quality

You misunderstand oleo, the point he is making is that you should use the search function to determine if the question you are about to ask has been asked already before opening a thread and asking same question!

I just gave you 1 sMerit because you have intended to make good quality posts.  Smiley
I gave you the merit as an appreciation so that you feel encouraged and always try your best to make quality posts.

Just think that this is your own forum, and you have to confirm its QUALITY by being responsible.

Good Luck.

The major weakness is that there is no objective method of measuring whether a post has a high quality or not. As such, experienced members get to decide which posts get merits. When you also consider the fact that the merit sources are very limited, you will see that even if there were a lot of high quality posts, not all of them could get merits.

So in my opinion, the number of merit sources and the total number of users are disproportionate.

Merit system has forced some people, in fact everyone using this forum to post that are of high quality and that increases the standard of posts as everyone Orient towards receiving merits and get to a higher rank.
Merit has definitely made the forum free from low quality posts and we can hope that it might completely eradicate spammers and people making low quality posts.

I think that merit system is great to not say perfect, In the reason to fight spammers and shit postings, because a high percent of member here just want to join signature campaign with a minimum of effort to make money, They doesn't care about the forum, they only think about themselves which it's too greedy and wrong. So now with this new merit system, they will be obliged to improve their quality posts to eligible to rank and join signature campaigns.

really the more you say, the higher rank might be better in deciding the post is good or not, because they are more experienced.

As I see it, Merit System does changed a lot for the betterment of this forum, freeing from shitposting and account farming. But there is some weakness that I always see. Merit farming or an exchange of Merit, its like
"merit me, and I also give merit for you" it makes me think that it abolishes the true intention of merit system. Lack of people who always watched those merit farmer which is totally unfair. Lack of Merit sources in other Section, it is really hard to earn merits even you always post in a good quality.

Reality is no system is perfect. People will always try to cheat the system. No doubt, merit system is showing its effects. Have you observed the number of people complaining that they are not able to rank up. That already proves that it is working. This will also get better with time when most of the merit will come from merit sources.

As far as I know there is already enough people who are watching those merit farmers. If you look here in meta, there are few threads related to it and some default trust members gives red trust to members who abuse the merit system. You are right though that it is hard to earn merits in other sections as there are little to no merit given out but give the system a little more time, soon it will be also possible to earn merits on other sections too.

As we can always not be able to look "all the threads", "all the posts" in "all the sections", that's why some of the high ranked members opened threads where everyone can provide their quality posts in order to get merit.

So every member who made a quality post can easily submit in those threads to get merit. I think this is one of the best ways to get merited and rank faster. Members just need to be a quality contributor, that's all!

The merit system has a lot of flaws, you are at the mercy of higher ranked members who are as diverse as can be, some may not be ready or willing to give merits at all and some may probably not know a quality post if they see one, if we do the maths for higher ranked members in a position to give out merits we will now be left with a small percentage of objective and progressive members in that category who may not even read your posts.

maybe this is the best and fastest way to get merit, by joining post by higher rank. with a note we must know the contents of the post

Not correct, there are merit sources who will not be partial. I have also seen a lot of high rank members giving merits to new members.

Of course just like any other system, merit system have some weaknesses, as much as they want to eliminate account farmers they can't help but accept the fact that this is impossible to do. Cheaters will always find ways to manipulate the system, what was good to merit system is that even if people can manipulate it, still it will help to force people to work on their account and make a quality post because they will not rank up if they will not receive enough merit.

I keep reading similar sentiments, and it's like you people think making a good post is like woodworking or something.  That it's a craft that you need to practice.  The truth is that you just need to be reasonably adept at writing, and you have to write something that's interesting.

Forget humor, wit, sarcasm, and all of that--none of it translates well into the written word on bitcointalk, and you're not likely to be rewarded for your efforts.

I find it perplexing, because if you just write on-topic what's in your mind, and you put the words together properly....it's not hard, and it's not complicated.  Does it guarantee you'll get merits?  Absolutely not.  I've seen some well-written posts, and sometimes funny ones, that haven't received any merits, and that's the way it's going to be.  There aren't enough points to go around.  The ONLY thing you can do is to keep writing stuff that's interesting.  And if you don't get merit for it, you don't need to start a thread about the merit system.  None of us are guaranteed to get merits, no matter how fantastic our posts are.  Just suck it up and get used to it.
