Abstract

The cryptocurrency (hereinafter called “crypto” interchangeably) industry is thriving. The total market capitalization has been steadily rising and the prospects are exciting. As a young industry, the market is yet to be understood by most people. The prices of cryptos have exhibited huge volatilities and the market has encountered an endless stream of anomalies. Some cryptos are blockbusters with hundredfold or even thousandfold growth; while some others have been sluggish, with their prices gradually approaching zero. Meanwhile, asset prices in mature financial markets such as US equity market have been steadily rising since 2017 with declining volatilities.

High volatility is an enemy to individual investors but a friend to hedge funds. The high volatility of crypto market and the growing number of participants will for sure attract more and more hedge funds into this new arena. Alpha protocol ( α protocol ) is created to address the growing needs in this playing field.

Alpha protocol is an agreement between hedge funds and investors. It connects two communities: the community of long-term cryptocurrency investors (herein after called “crypto investors” or “investors”) and the community of carefully chosen quantitative strategy developers (hereinafter called “quant strategists” or “strategists”). The crypto investors have digital assets, which are sitting idle and create demand for their secondary utilization and steady growth; while quant strategists have the demand for the use of cryptos. By connecting these two communities, alpha protocol addresses both of these demands.

The alpha protocol does not set new rules for the market, but provides a tool for resource sharing. It is committed to becoming a bridge between quant strategists and crypto investors. ALP (Alpha Protocol token), which is the token facilitating the implementation of alpha protocol, is committed to becoming a digital currency with steady growth. Community Map Guide

One becomes an ALP Holder through initial crowdfunding or periodic offering from Strategic Pool, or one could purchase ALP on the secondary market. ALP Holders could exit the community any time by selling ALP on the secondary market.
ALP holders could entrust ALP to Alpha Producers. These entrusted ALPs could not be transferred or traded on secondary market. In other words, entrusted ALPs are locked up.
An Alpha Producer uses the entrusted ALPs to transfer digital assets from the Alpha Pool to certified exchange account to execute quantitative strategies. The cap of value of digital assets one could transfer is proportional to the number of entrusted ALPs. After the execution, the Alpha Producer gets a cut of profit earned and return the rest of the profit to Alpha Pool along with the borrowed asset. In this process, the system automatically calculates the statistics such as balance and return, and stores these info in the blockchain. The net value info are encrypted and only visible to ALP Holders who entrusted their ALPs to this Alpha Producer.
To borrow the allocated asset, the Alpha Producer needs to deposit certain number of ALPs as collateral. The amount of collateral determines the maximal loss allowed for this Alpha Producer when executing the quant strategy.
The influence between ALP Holders and Alpha Producers goes both ways. On the one hand, the borrowing limit of Alpha Producers is determined by how many ALPs are entrusted to them by ALP Holders. On the other hand, after each period, the entrusted ALPs will be redistributed among ALP holders, in such a way that the ALP holders who voted for Alpha Producers with good performance (detailed definition of “good” will be given in Section 3.3) will get more ALPs. ALP holders who did not participate in the voting will not be awarded or punished.
Alpha Pool will use the profit earned to buy back and destroy ALPs from the secondary market periodically. This is to maintain the deflation of ALP, and thus reward all ALP Holders in the Alpha Community. The buyback plan consists of two stages. In the first stage when the Alpha Protocol blockchain is still under development, the buyback will be carried out by the Alpha Protocol Foundation. In the second stage, the profit for each trading period will be written into the smart contract, and the buyback will be executed algorithmically over long period of time. In particular, the buyback algorithm will be tied with market price move, such that whenever there is a sudden drop in ALP price, the buyback amount will be increased so as to alleviate the volatility of ALP.
The Strategic Pool will periodically release ALPs to future community members. The released ALPs shall not be priced lower than 105% of the average market price of ALP in the most recent week. Future community members are voted in by current ALP Holders. The number of ALPs released decreases by 50% each year. This helps to expand the community, and to absorb more digital assets into the Alpha Pool.
Certified external institutions can also entrust their assets to the Alpha Community. They will be charged management fee in the form of ALPs, which will be added to the Strategic Pool. They do not have voting rights similar to that of ALP Holders. The profit earned using external institution’s assets will be used to buy back ALPs from secondary market and the ALPs bought back will be distributed to them as Alpha Protocol is implemented through decentralized blockchain technologies. Before the development of the blockchain is completed, the Alpha Protocol Foundation will manage the operations of the Alpha Pool.

AIRDROP has been complete with 100000 ETH addresses participate. 3.6 Million ALP tokens will be distributed to the registered ETH addresses by the end of February.

Alpha Protocol (ALP) held a Private Sale Event between Jan 16, 2017 and Feb 8, 2017. Terms and Conditions

General rules

1. The Bounty program starts at 00:00 UTC on the February 20, 2018 and ends at 00:00 UTC on March 10, 2018.
2. To participate in the bounty program you must be at least 18 years old.
3. To be added to the bounty program visit our Telegram group and message @will0696.
4. Rewards for each campaign have a cap and once that cap is reached, rewards will no longer be processed or awarded.
5. Each user can only participate with one account per campaign. Users with double-registrations or duplicate accounts (except the initial one) will be permanently banned from the program.
6. We will have daily updates regarding approvals to start working on translations.
7. All campaigns will counted weekly.
8. All rewards for bounty activities will be ALP tokens.
9. If you are disqualified for any reason, you will NOT receive any bounty rewards.
10. The Alpha Protocol team will reserve the right to change any rules, or make any changes, if necessary

A. Content (blogs and media publications, Video publication) Bounty

Alpha Protocol awards writers, bloggers, journalists, and video editors with ALP tokens for publishing quality content about the Alpha Protocol. For this campaign, we only accept blog posts, articles, and videos (Please provide an English brief to us in Telegram for non-English content).

All pieces of content (including articles, blog posts, videos, etc.) are divided into five categories:

1. To send the link of your published piece or video, fill in this form Content Bounty Registration
2. All content must be original. Plagiarizing, copying, or translating existing content, including content published by Alpha Protocol staff, is prohibited and will lead to disqualification.
3. You can, however, use our official images, logos, graphics, and other branding materials from our website and in the ANN thread.
4. Articles must be longer than 700 words.
5. Videos must be at least one minute long.
6. The article or description of the video must contain at least one link to our website and one link, either to the Whitepaper or to the official ANN thread.
The article or description must also contain a link to your Bitcointalk profile in order to prove your authorship.
7. Blogging platforms like Medium, Steemit, Newbium, etc. are allowed but only three posts per person are accepted on these platforms.

B. Social Media Bounty

1. To take part in the Social Media Bounty campaign, apply with this form

2.1. Your account must must be public and have at least 300 followers.
2.2. Your reward rank will be estimated by your followers and amount of retweets.
a. Normal- You need to make at least 1 post and 3 retweets each week.
b. Good- You need to make at least 1 posts and 4 retweets and pinned tweet each week.
c. If you do not meet either of those requirements, you will not be qualified to receive ALPs.
d. To make valid content, posts and replies must contain #AlphaProtocol, 100 characters or more to be eligible. Posts and replies with less than the valid number of characters will not qualify.
e. Retweets must be from Alpha Protocol’s official Twitter account.
f. The tweets must not be removed from your personal Twitter until the end of the bounty campaign. The posts must be public.
g. Twitter accounts must be original and owned by you. Fake, dead, inactive, and bot accounts will not be accepted.
3. For Reddit:
3.1. Minimum number of posts is 2 per week, 5 comments per week.
For your content to qualify, you need to choose at least one of the three contents types below:
a. Raise/answer questions about Alpha Protocol.
b. Encourage or provide persuasive reasons for why people should participate in the Alpha Protocol community.
c. Provide a constructive comparison with other token contribution events (token advantages, team members, business model, etc).
3.2. Users will receive varying amounts of ALPs according to the number of upvotes

4. For your content to qualify, you need to choose at least one of the three contents types below:

C. Translation and Moderation (Telegram)

AlphaProtocol awards users who translate the whitepaper, Alpha Protocol landing page, ANN thread, and moderate and manage the local thread, with ALP tokens.

2. Translations must be original and made by the user only. Using Google Translate and other tools is strictly prohibited and will lead to disqualification.
3. Only constructive posts are counted. Spam and unnecessary posts won’t be counted. Spammers will be disqualified.
4. ALPs will be allocated as follows

5. Translators can take 5 days to submit the translation. Taking more than 5 days will disqualify you and the job will then be granted to another candidate.
6. The following languages are welcome: Japanese, Korean, Polish, Spanish, and Russian. We are open to suggestions for other languages: German, French, Italian, Hindi, Indonesian, etc.
